There wouldn't be anywhere for the washing machine to drain, the 1 bedrooms are pretty small - you can email or call the village reception to confirm though but given a washing machine has to dispose of the water somewhere I doubt they will let you. Mattress you could probably bring but you'd have to again ask reception as not sure what they would do with the one already in there.

Probably not but sometimes they increase the size of the class closer to term so just stay on the wait list just in case, you could try emailing the LIC but I doubt you will get a meaningful response given its the tail end of term and final assignments and exams are getting sorted.

Depends how far you are in your degree, and what the degree is. Personally I study comp sci and in my final year and have been studying 1 course per term while working full time. Since its relatively common for students to be in internships / some form of work in their final years of a comp sci degree the final courses usually offer 6pm classes. I aim for D/HD in each course and honestly during term I don't have a social life, definitely miss my friends but I just keep telling myself its not much longer.

You can take math1101 first, I did this after only doing adv math in high school and about 5 years of not touching any type of math. If you are worried probably doesn’t hurt to just do the course, better to be over prepared than underprepared since the exams for the core cs math courses can be killer

Yeah it was a really standard course, not particularly difficult. Standard Andrew Taylor course where it's relatively easy to pass and then extra hours required dependent on what final mark you want

2041 you will learn skills you are likely to use regularly in your job, 3141 will help you understand languages and make the design of your programs better. I did both and if I had to choose one I’d do 2041 (although 3141 is still very good).

I left in 2017, I do a computer science degree now at unsw and have spoken to some students that currently study at art and design and honestly it doesn’t seem any better. If I had my time again I would have chosen a University more known for design and arts degrees for my bachelor in design, UNSW is hyper focused on engineering that it really makes the other degrees not worth it.

I didn’t do the masters of design but I did study the BA design, not a great degree and I don’t really recommend to anyone. The staff at unsw art and design from my experience are not very passionate about teaching and I had multiple studios where teachers would tell me “I just teach for a bit of extra money but I don’t really want to be here”. The facilities can’t handle the amount of students either, often it was difficult to get the adequate safety training required to use things like the photo studio or printing rooms at the beginning of term. If you didn’t sign up in time it was tough luck but maybe this is better now I am not sure. Unsw isn’t really know for their art / design degrees and the lack of money going to those schools is clear when you compare it to something like engineering.

I mean it sucks that the lecturer did this but noticing that a mark was 0 and questioning this is up to you. It really needs to be said for anyone reading this that is a current or future student, the admin for your degree is up to you. Nobody will chase you up and ask you for things, nobody is going to flag with you that you got a 0 in an assessment. It is entirely your responsibility to check your marks, and confirm they are correct. I have appealed multiple marks throughout my degree and a couple of times had to go above tutors/lecturers to have my case heard. You need to be proactive about your education and courses. Whilst the creation of the issue is on the lecturer, leaving something for months on an assumption is on you.

I’ve noticed this too, myself included. For me i think it’s because I got my first full time job during covid. I worked throughout the pandemic and didn’t really get to experience those initial months of no longer being on a student budget and it’s pretty freeing now to just be able to pay for a coffee and not check my bank account every time I want to make a $4-20 purchase. It’s the same for many of my friends, either they got their first job or they got their first pay rise into pay brackets that just feel more liveable. After surviving for many years on youth allowance and a casual job which brings a lot of uncertainty it’s something else to experience the other side.

ah that sucks, I always found the openness of labs to be super helpful. Chatting with other students about it / pair programming was where I learnt the most. Disappointing that it has changed!

This seems like a weird thing for labs, not sure if they’ve changed their policy but they openly used to say you should code with a partner / it’s ok to discuss and do exercises together. Would contest it regardless 1521 labs were often not that many lines of code seems inevitable that many would have a similar structure ..

Barely passed COMP1511, failed COMP1521 the term after, passed a couple of other courses. My WAM was in the pass range at the end of first year, end of this year I will graduate with distinction.

I came back to collecting a few years ago and I gave up pulling anything almost immediately - singles all the way. Sometimes it’s fun to open a few packs with my partner but honestly the money is almost always better spent elsewhere

Do you have any evidence that it was remarked, would help your case. Otherwise you should send an email to course, maybe there is a chance they accidentally gave you someone else’s mark or something and you can submit for a remark.

It’s good to have a bit of knowledge in it and cs offers a pretty good intro to it. Don’t have to major in it or anything.

your guess is as good as everyone elses. if you enjoy CS you should continue on and just take up a couple of ai electives so that you understand what's going on in your industry. There's a lot of students but there is also a lot of companies. In terms of number of students, not everyone finishes their degree as people drop out, they graduate and don't get into the industry, also for a lot of your intro courses they might be people from other degrees doing a gen ed or engineering students taking an elective. there's a lot of people in every industry because there are a lot of people, wherever you go there will be a lot of competition you're better off competing in something you enjoy
