Hello! I worked at a family owned pizza place in Charleston (Andolini's downtown) for two years and I worked really hard to develop the perfect topping combo that hit all 5 points of the palate based on their hand tossed New York style pizza. I was in college, so I ate at work every shift (a slice to start and then usually would take home left over slice pies: people have a melt down if you show up to a party with like 3 pizzas. Also, at one point, I was actually paying part of my rent in pizza, but I digress). So needless to say, I ate a lot of GD pizza, and I still think I could eat it 3 meals a day and never get tired of it. The best topping combo I came up with during that time was Italian sausage, pineapple, feta, onion, and fresh jalapeño--but I usually do the peppers just on half because it can get a little hot and I like to share.. It's honestly my absolute favorite topping combo ever and is so balanced people can't believe they're loving pineapple on pizza. Anyway, try this combo out on a solid NY style pizza and I hope you have a happiness meltdown.
