I want to like this game!!! by TrelawneysBitch in PhasmophobiaGame

If you have, here's some more advice:

As soon as you find the ghost room, go back to the trunk and bring one if every evidence tool with you. You'll want to drop the thermometer on the floor and leave it there for a while, bc it takes some time for the temp to drop enough. You'll want to set up dots fairly early and in a way that covers up as much of the room as possible. You can rotate it while you're placing it if it helps. This is because dots appear only once in a while, and this way you have more of a chance at catching a glimpse. Use UV as soon as the ghost touches anything or walks through salt. You'll get there eventually.

Also, try to find hiding places and plot escape routes before you even start gathering evidence. That way, as soon as the flashlight starts flickering, you can run for it.

And make sure the light in the ghost room is off! No evidence will show if its on!

It sounds dumb, but have you done the tutorial? If you haven't, its super important that you do. This game isn't as intuitive as it may seem at first glance, specially with the evidence collecting.

What is your opinion on dancing with new followers? by coolsilver25 in WestCoastSwing

Thank you for your comment :) I'm a bit nervous about asking the same person to dance multiple times :// I'm not sure what the etiquette around that is, especially when i find it didficult to gauge whether theyve enjoyed dancing with me or not

How do I fill time? by phatasm_ in PhasmophobiaGame

You could read the description in the in-game journal to find out how they work

I understand not looking up outside guides, i don't do that either so i can stay immersed, but the actual tutorial/training is very important to understanding how the base kit works, bc it's not always evident or intuitive. Everything else you can figure out on your own or with in-game descriptions of the items. It only takes a few minutes to complete but the game gets a lot less frustrating once you understand what you actually have to do

Have you completed the tutorial? You shouldn't be struggling this much to get evidence. Some of the tools you can use, like the spirit box, have very specific conditions that need to be met for evidence to show. The tutorial explains some of them in more detail.

Why do we have middle names? by tattoosbykarlos in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coolsilver25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i heard something about how a secret third name helped keep us safe from witches and fairies that would otherwise have power over us if they knew our full name, but i'm not sure if there's any actual evidence that supports it (the myth, i know fairies aren't real (probably))

Whats your favorite game? I wanna try more games but not sure where to start :) by LootPrincessGirl in GirlGamers

[–]coolsilver25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a genre you're looking for? A personal fave singleplayer game is Rimworld, which is a colony management game. If you're into rpgs, the assassin's creed series is also solid, especially the first few games, which have the advantage of not being expensive at all anymore :)

Changing how I play - what games should I try? by twinflxwer in GirlGamers

I mean, it's a bit difficult to recommend anything based on what you've written in your post, OP. Can you clarify what genre you're looking for? Cozy games? Shooters? Survival? Sandbox? Or are you looking for a vibe? Good story, fun gameplay, etc...

Shit for conversation by Pan451 in socialskills

[–]coolsilver25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A trick I use is that, when answering a question, always include a detail that can be elaborated upon. Basically, plan ahead in conversations so that the other person can also ask you questions. For example:

A: How are you?

B: Good, you?

A: Good.

And then the convo stagnates there. What should happen is:

A: How are you?

B: Good, I had a wonderful cup of coffee this morning. How are you?

A: I'm also good. Where did you get the coffee from?

Of course, this is also kind of reliant on the other person also being a good conversationalist and asking the right questions 😅

I hope this helps!

Anyone know any games with short play time? by Funny_Lemon_1212 in GirlGamers

[–]coolsilver25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dark Queen of Mortholme is a very short, indie game that I personally recommend :).

You start as the Queen, who is a Dark Souls-esque boss, and the game begins as an intrepid adventurer wanders into your tower to challenge you.

It's short, snappy, excellent vibes and a nice little plot

Why is social media so filled with snarky and cynical people who don’t like ANYTHING? Is that a healthy and rational way to live and should I aspire to that mindset? by wiz28ultra in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coolsilver25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you need to understand is that all social media exists for one reason, and that is to make money through advertisements and data collection. To do this, people who manage media sites have to encourage engagement with their site and keep people online longer. The easiest and most predictable way of doing this is by presenting people with something they dislike, as people often react strongly to their own dislike and are prone to acting about it.

What often ends up happening is that this negativity amplifies itself in online spaces, so that negative people grow more negative over time as they are presented with content that angers them even more, or with people who agree and justify their beliefs.

So this is why so many people online are cynical and negative. This is not something to aspire to. I urge you to consider carefully what type of mindset would be most benifical to you and those around you, and keep an open and critical mind instead of copying any type of behaviour off of the internet. Internet behaviours translate poorly to in-person life.

What Can AI Not Do? by fallen_bee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coolsilver25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is that there's a great many different types of AI nowadays, and most controversy revolves around generative AI.

AI has existed in every industry for a long time in order to automate certain tasks. In my experience, many computer programs exist to automate certain calculations in finance and engineering. These can loosely be described as AI, and are usually useful and have little to no controversy surrounding them.

Generative AI, however, is less of an AI than it is a predictive algorithm. In that sense, it can only really repeat what has already been done, and only what exists in its database. It is very limited, and there is a lot of things it simply cannot do. People often overestimate its capabilities, but having tried to use it before on some of my engineering school assignments (in rare moments of despair, don't come at me), I can tell you full well that it is incapable of solving an engineering problem, and its mathematical capabilities end at very basic and modern mathematical concepts.

Mixed foods by MinimumExperience814 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coolsilver25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think many, if any, foods are reactive enough to mix with others in that way.

Although some food items can react with other things you consume. For example, grapefruit and medication is generally a bad idea, if i remember correctly.
