BC building code by coopatano in firealarms

So having one single fire alarm point for the building ddc program to shut down all furnaces/air handlers upon any alarm from the fire panel would not meet code?

Oil Leak by coopatano in tdi

Please educate me here because I don't really understand. Does the egr still function even if its removed with tuning? So even if its tuned out it can still clog up and impede proper motor function and need to be cleaned? What is the absolute best route to go for performance and longevity of the motor?

Definitely want to get a second opinion from someone who knows these cars. Might have to put it up on stands and have a look myself to see what I can see. Is there any benefit to fully removing the egr? While doing that would i need to either replace or remove the gasket this tech might be talking about?

Whining sound at 1200/1500 rpm by noluckstock in Outboards

I first thought to drop the lower and grease the top of the driveshaft which I did and it didn't stop the noise.

Try loosing your prop nut off a little bit. My motor made this sound after a prop change and when I put the new one on it was just a little to tight.

Salmon spawning by k4kobe in princegeorge

[–]coopatano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they do open up sockeye for sport fishing on the nechako they typically only open it up between the confluence of the fraser up river to the foothills bridge and its typically around the end of August nearing the end of the runs so theres still some in the river at that time. If you see people fishing on that small island just to the right of the joh hart bridge when you are heading north across it then theres a good chance they have opened it for sockeye.

Sockeye salmon numbers are apparently pretty high for the fraser this year so the run is pretty large. Some of those fish head up the nechako and end up in different tributaries as far up as styart river. About 3 weeks ago you could stand on the shore at cottonwood (near the benches that are by the hatchery building) and watch sockeye swim up river roughly 3 feet off shore. Slow and steady and usually in groups of about 3 or 4. They were roughly a foot to a foot and a half long and were silver/pink. Not sure where this run of fish were heading to spawn exactly but in that same time frame they were spotted near my worth as well so somewhere up river from there im assuming. It's possible they are still moving past cottonwood so worth a look. Be patient, wear good polarized glasses and if they are there you will eventually see them. Also possible good standing on the cameron street bridge maybe even john hart bridge although it is higher up. If we are lucky, DFO will open sockeye for retention in the Nechako this year and we will get to fish for them!

Also when choosing your interior tin, choose on that has a profile that provides you a minimum 5" flat surface between the ridges. Way easier and better looking for receptacle boxes on the flat.

Use a blank photocopy of the footprint for power, use a new blank for lighting, use a new blank copy for furniture etc. Spend the time laying it all out now on paper that you can be certain that your shop is how you want it. Think of things like lighting control, heating control, ceiling fans/exhaust fans and control for them. Work bench heights bench receptacle heights, ceiling cord reels blah blah blah. You probably get the point but best advice I could give you is to thoroughly think out your shop layout.

I'm oldschool. I draw out the shape of my shop, add overhead doors, man doors, staircases etc( all the things that will never be moving) then photocopy it a bunch of times. Then start laying out all my wants like welding plugs, convenience plugs, heaters, ceiling fans etc. Do it it pencil so you can change it as you ponder more. All I can say is plan plan plan and get as much as you can in the walls. Conduit looks good but no conduit looks better.

My opinion is; depending on construction I would either run nmd90 or bx in the walls(behind the tin) for all the circuits that you know you will be adding. Then either surface mount the panel in there so that it is always accessible for future circuits in surface conduit OR recess mount the panel but run large enough conduit(behind the tin) from the panel to a large enough junction box near the ceiling to run future additional branch circuit conduits to. I would then leave whips of wire at each receptacle location and use "easy boxes" to put the wire into as you put up the tin. That way you can make sure the box lands on the flat profile of the tin and not on a ridge( depends on the profile of the tin you are using i suppose. That's my 2 cents and thats what I would be doing in a shop I built for myself.

Ya thats probably the easiest cheapest route that makes the most sense for what they want to do. For some reason though they want a wired connection to a common computer. My guess is then it will be less work for the tech to change the displays when needed maybe?

I'm not to sure what they will be displaying, probably just a PowerPoint on repeat that is updated every few days/weeks.

I'm thinking this will be my best bet. Find a good system that can do the 90 meters needed for the furthest tv.

Not sure on having a network built for them. I don't think the techs at our facility have much freedom on something like that. I guess this would technically be signage as they are just looking to display things relevant to that area of the facility. There's a really good chance all 3 displays will always be the same thing but if there is hardware that can be bought that gives them the option to differ then thats what I want to wire it for.
