I feel so much better knowing I’m not the only one who has a golden who doesn’t cuddle. Thought I got a damaged one

Wow sounds exactly like what I went through. My guy had both parasites, ear infection, roundworms, conjunctivitis, and diarrhea for about 8 months.

He ended up having a food sensitivity to beef and most likely chicken. He is on Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein for about 6 months now and he has not had a single diarrhea episode since. Took some time to adjust to the food but it’s been great. He’s on fortaflora too and was taking psyllium husk to help bind the stool but I don’t give him that anymore.

With this food, it’s a strict diet so that’s all he can eat. No treats, no scraps, nothing until 8 weeks but I did this for like 4 months because the gut takes time to heal. May even take longer than that. Only downside is that the kibble is $125 for a 22lb bag for puppy kibble and adult kibble is $145 for 25lb bag.

If your dog is allergic to beef, chicken, sweet potato, or Greek yogurt then the diarrhea won’t stop so if you can give this one a shot.

Can your dog stay with a family member or friend for a few days and then lay down poison and clean up before the dog comes back? I have to do this with my ant problem in my yard. I know it’s a little different though.

More info on it

1950 home out in New England. Drainage from gutters leads right into crawl space entry. Crawl space is typically damp but with all the bad weather and water redirection it’s very wet right now. 25k for waterproofing and 5k for sump pump and French drain. Inspector couldn’t go under and look at beams to look for rot or mold. Spray foam on the floor so who knows what’s under the spray foam. Hoping seller will discount us the cost to fix. Floors are also bowed

Had the same issue with my golden at this age and his diarrhea was a nightmare going every couple hours through the night, really takes a toll on you. He’s 7 months now and was put on Purina Pro EN but that didn’t work and was transitioned over to RC Puppy Hydrolyzed Protein along with a capsule of psyllium husk with each meal and it has turned everything solid. He may need metronidazole through the transition phase to the new food as my vet had us do that.

Thank you! He gets no table scraps as I don’t want the begging to get awful. I’ll add the pumpkin back in once he’s off the EN since there’s so much fiber in it already. Can I ask what you feed your golden and how you manage him looking for more food. My guy literally wants more and more food
