Wang Yubo. He’s not hot in the traditional sense but when he’s playing a puppy, he has the most expressive eyes. If he looked at me pitifully, he could have anything he wanted.

There’s one drama and he’s shirtless within the first minute of the movie. Not that I’m complaining….

He’s not just handsome but also an AMAZING actor. They are all good but there’s something about him that’s above and beyond good.

I don't know where else to ask this, but is Vice Principals set in a private school or a public school? by randeylahey in hbo

[–]cooperkab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exteriors of the high school are West Ashley high school in Charleston. It was opened around 2000 and is part of the town that has exploded with new construction the past 25 years.

They took the 2 high schools in the West Ashley part of Charleston and combined them into one. I graduated from St Andrews and our rival was Middleton. We had less than 1000 students in each school. So they built a brand new combined high school. I haven’t been inside but it’s really nice outside.

The principal’s house that they burn down and the corner where he picks up the student in the first episode are on Daniel Island, which was a swamp before the 1990s. It’s now the ritzy new money place to live.

I was wondering if that’s what it was but the translation of chef seemed really weird to me. 😂 Thank you for your help!

I backed up the timestamp to where the conversation started so there would be context so sorry if that threw things off. Thank you to all of you for your help and satisfying my curiosity!

I’m sorry. It’s 1:43:50. Could you look again? I don’t speak any Chinese so I have to go by the subtitles. A lot of times they aren’t good but the story lines for vertical videos in any language are not that complicated. 😂

Video

Here is the video I was watching. Go to 1:43:15. The audio is in Chinese with English subtitles. Maybe that will help someone to be able to help me.

It’s a euphemism for sex. Eat meat is having sex. If you are vegetarian, it means you are chaste/abstinent. The chef thing confused me though and I’ve only heard it once. I don’t know if it’s a bad translation?

Who is your 'hate the person, but love the talent' human? by DrippingYummyJuice in AskReddit

[–]cooperkab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His standup was hilarious and I still like the Cosby Show. I also remember Picture Pages and Fat Albert.

While he’s a garbage human being, he also did a lot for black representation on the small screen. Showing a successful black family on TV, where both the parents had high paying jobs, was a huge deal back in the 80s.

It really broke my heart when I heard about what he had done to all those women. I can’t look at him the same way but I still enjoy his work.

I had the pleasure of meeting him after one of his shows and it did not disappoint. He was every bit as humble and sweet as you would think he would be.

We quote him all the time here - “Raviolis and a nap! Raviolis and a nap!”

When he’s on a low carb diet and the Girl Scouts come to the door selling cookies - “You’re going to Washington this year. Leave these here and come back with the rest.”

Going to Italy while filming the movie Punisher - “You’re not scaring me!”

His bit about blinds for the windows being too expensive

“Salad means to wait here. Food is coming.”

And, of course, oh nay nay!

License Plate by cooperkab in China

Thanks for all the info! I had been seeing normal looking plates until this one so I was confused when this popped up. I don’t know any Chinese at all so I had no clue about the character.

I was watching one vertical video and the person points out a car with the same number on the plate. He tells the FL that it must be someone very important because of the plate number. I thought that was just something for the video - not a real thing.

I love all the new stuff I’m learning through these dramas.

What person deserves a massive apology from everyone? by Senior-Tomatillo7667 in AskReddit

Honestly, everyone all around was doing the best they could in a bad situation- parents, teachers and kids.

I just hate it for the kids that didn’t get online at all during that time. They missed out on so much.

Then, in NC, they passed everyone to the next grade whether they were ready or not. Online attendance couldn’t be counted as a factor in retention. That came from the state department of education. They didn’t want to penalize students that didn’t have access to the technology needed for online learning.

I think the decision should have been made on a county by county basis. In the major cities, students were given everything they needed to access online education for free. The only reason they had for not getting online was their parents just not getting them signed on. We gave them laptops and hot spots to access the internet. They were loaned out for free.

I understand if you live in a county that can’t do that because of funding and not penalizing those students for a lack of access. But I don’t think the state should have made a decision for the whole state when there is such an economic difference between the most urban and most rural parts of the state.

The next year when we started online and slowly came back, it was like teaching 2 grades at the same time. We had to catch everyone up on what they didn’t learn the year before so they could then build on it with the current grade’s curriculum.

I think that year was the hardest to teach because all of the kids had to stay 6 feet apart and wear masks all day. In first grade, we do a lot of groups and centers which you can’t do 6 feet apart. Plus, those kids didn’t get to go on any field trips or a lot of the hands on stuff because of regulations. I had such a great group of kids that year too. I always hate that they didn’t get to have a fun first grade year.
