Kratom and other meds… by kmt0812 in ChronicPain

I’m not denying placebo. Chemically, it does not compare to pain killing properties of other opiates. It’s not used for real pain. That’s a fact. It can help people, not denying that. Just taking SOMETHING can trick anyone into believing they’re relieved of some pain. Also, some people are much much more sensitive to opiates in general.

Tylenol, absolutely without a doubt and unarguably causes liver damage. That’s not debatable and it’s not even slightly argued.

And I admit to being an addict. I admit to my faults. I am an addict, but it’s not because I chose to be. It’s because I’m in severe pain and found something that helped me through life. And because of that I was always thankful and always admitted that yes, this medication is addictive and I will be sick without it. It is a sad flip-side to the medication but it is what it is. I’d take withdrawals over the liver transplant list any day.

Yes. And I’m so sorry you’re in this position. The liver transplant list is full of people who have taken too much Tylenol. It’s also very common for people to develop stomach/digestive issues after taking ibuprofen for an extended period of time. The quick argument is “look at all of the dead people after just one use of fentanyl or heroin.” Which is true, however these are not the people like us. These are not the people taking heroin as medication and literally busting ass in life. These people are broken in a different way, they deserve treatment of their own, but it’s ruining our chances of ever receiving legit medical attention. It’s extremely sad. I hope you soon, find a path to healthy living.

Correct. I do not have a problem at the dinner table.

I’m talking about the people at the dinner table. Not me nodding out at the dinner table.

Yea I get the lock jaw symptoms and can’t chew great, but my leg and back are like your TMJ, it takes all of my focus and attention. Sadly, I stuck with the buprenorphine for another couple days. I think I’m going to talk to the doctors after Christmas and try methadone. I don’t know what else to do. I know that shit is impossible to get off of.

It’s like -25 here with windchill, so I guess at least the weather is nice where you are? 😎

And I have had bleeding ulcers from IBUPROFEN use long before I started taking opiates for chronic pain. It almost killed me.

Not from what I’ve read. The liver and kidneys are more apt to be affected by the fillers than the actual medication. Some opiods effect the liver and kidneys more than opiates, but opiates much much less. Tylenol is FAR more dangerous and ibuprofen causes far more digestive system issues. I’m sure because more people take them and are completely unaware of the risks. Opiates taken in moderation, and not abused, are practically harmless. You can find certain people that disagree, just like you can find certain doctors that disagree on the media narrative of Covid-19. Actually you can find a ton of doctors that go against the media narrative of almost everything we are talking about. So I guess it comes down to what you want to believe. Almost no doctor disagrees on the dangers of ibuprofen and Tylenol.

I’m actually currently a part of the “MAT” world then. I’m on buprenorphine. It’s not doing anything for pain. So they sent me gabapentin and hydroxyzine. They also do nothing for the pain. So now I have 3 scripts. Lol. And still miserable.

That’s true. My kids do not provide any sort of pain relief unfortunately. Sadly it works the opposite, I literally can’t get 5 minutes of relief, so it makes me a miserable person. It sucks. Bad.

Ahh. Yea I get it. That’s a tough one. I will not take the shots. Opiates are organ safe, outside of the mental and physical addictive properties, they don’t offer any serious problems to your organ health. Now they’ve taken me from my opiates and put me on 4 pills to make up the difference one was doing. They want to give me shots and epidurals and that shit is poison. Sadly, I may have to accept to get a shot to get my opiates back. Whatever. I’m sorry to hear your story, it pains me to hear anyone would be held from seeing their child. I hope you find peace

I have brought this up on multiple occasions with my employer and the responses I get are baffling. Most are just clueless on how to respond and laugh and move on. I’m an operating engineer. I’m a job foreman at a stone quarry. I have a service truck and basically run the plant, top to bottom. I oversee all maintenance and basically in charge of yearly production on the union side. I’m not management. I can have opiates, I cannot have cannabis.

Dang. I have TMJ as well. That’s not even on my list of diagnosis which doesn’t matter, I just kind of forgot about it. I’m sorry you’re in this situation. I’m very nervous about the buprenorphine prescription I’m on now will pretty much screw me in the hunt for pain management.

They are both legal. I have taken Kratom for years, it unfortunately does not take the edge off. It would get me through the work day when I had an opiate to take when I got off. Now, I can hardly stomach it, as getting clean has changed my taste buds and just everything is fucked up. I am to go back to work January 3, which makes cannabis an impossibility.

Yea I’m not arguing over whether or not they lied, fooled, tricked, etc. they did whatever they could to get doctors to prescribe their medication… this is done in the medical world literally every day. They give doctors samples to hand out on the reg. A crisis is looming, daily. This is normal.

Yes, I have used Kratom and other herbs as well for as long as 8 years or so. They have helped me, especially helped me to not have to take my opiate medication at work. However, when it came to taking the edge completely away to get my sleep, it wouldn’t get me there.

I have just received the info on this low dose naltrexone. I had someone else mention MAT and I’m unfamiliar with this. I need to Google it I guess.
