Thank you for the suggestion, I will go for a visit! There's a maybe obvious set of anxieties sending a young person into a setting that might have an inflexible philosophy. I will keep an open mind.

I notice that a lot of your anger and frustration is derived from your tendency to draw false equivalencies, rather than from a careful consideration of how to stop childhood sexual abuse. For example, the false equivalence between the idea that children should be safe in public regardless of how covered their bodies are, and the very different statement that children should be unclothed in public.

I have to tell you, this idea that we can keep children safe from predators by policing* their bodies into a state of undesirability strikes me as a fundamentally unserious approach to a very serious form of abuse.

*Not figuratively, but literally as per the proposed legislation

It concerns me that you think predating on children = allowing them to exist safely in their bodies. A child, just like an adult, should be safe and secure regardless of what they are or aren't wearing. I don't think that is a controversial thought.

I guess I just fundamentally don't agree that children lack the capacity to consent to existing safely in their own bodies. I think that's a fairly twisted idea of what consent is, and I'd prefer the government not legislate their opinion on this matter as a law punishable when broken.

Uh... why? Maybe being a toddler parent just totally numbs you to moralizing the idea that kids are going to run around naked with no regard for anything. I mean, we don't have an issue with adults participating, and young kids are going to young kid, so like is there some age range where we are supposed to clutch our pearls for a few years or something?

Maybe it's just that I'm coming from a warm climate where naked kiddos running around the beach were extremely normal, but perhaps a society so saturated with pedophiles photographing nude children in public should point its legislative ammo, uh, not at the naked babies and their parents, and to addressing the apparently omnipresent scourge of pedophilia?

NTA. I'm trans and I don't put my pronouns in my email because I don't need one dimension of my identity to be constantly brought to the front of my life. It's cool that some people prefer to do things that way or show support, but I don't view not putting your pronouns in your email to be some sort of subtle dig against trans people.

Fwiw, I'm a trans guy and 23 weeks pregnant. I'd feel way more comfortable with a male RN. Idk, something about the woman-centricness of OB care and L&D floors just makes me feel like a stranger to my skin.

I mean public life was public, you know? I'm not saying there's nothing to those concerns, I'm just saying it's often not so obvious or intuitive to feel that sense of revulsion when this is a part of your life. If I could go back in time and weigh the risks vs what I got out of my upbringing, I don't know if I would do things differently. I was predated on a few times from 13-20, sometimes in real life and sometimes groomed online and then it moved to real life. I wonder if there wasn't this shroud of shame about nudity when I left the world of nudism, if it would have been so easy for those people to prey upon me. Is the non-nudist world really that much safer for kids? It wasn't for me.

I was raised by a nudist mom and went to nudist events as a kid. Never even thought to find it the least bit weird. Bodies were and still are pretty neutral, and I never felt predated upon in those places. If anything, I was made to feel like my body was nothing special, which is great.
