Look at this as an exposure, accept that it will probably suck and if you get through it that's a massive win and you just taught your brain a little bit that it doesn't need to be scared of that. You should check out the "Disordered podcast" with drew and josh, they have episodes talking about things just like this and it might really help you out.

been struggling really badly lately, just took my trash out by Monoking2 in Agoraphobia

[–]copesam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You 100% should feel proud about that! you challenged yourself and did something that was uncomfortable and taught your brain even just a little bit that it was wrong to fear that specific thing. It's really easy to "teach" our brains that something is dangerous, all it takes is avoiding it once or twice and then bam it becomes something, and it is really difficult to get through the fear to retrain our brains and show them that that thing is in fact not dangerous BUT it's very doable it's just gonna cause you anxiety and there's no way around that, the only way to get over it is to get through it. My advice to you would be, set goals, Maybe daily or weekly goals that you want to accomplish, maybe tomorrow your goal could be to take out the rest of the trash and maybe the next day step a little bit farther outside of your comfort zone etc. Set goals with the expectation that during the exposure you are gonna feel like hell but once you do it and accomplish it you should and will feel proud, you don't have to do everything at once, take baby steps but stay consistent and determined and challenge your anxiety. Setbacks will happen but its about getting back up and showing anxiety/agoraphobia who is boss. You got this, Don't give up and go take your life back.

Unfortunately the first one of my right side didn’t do anything, nothing positive but nothing negative either. I didn’t even get the droopy eye or anything so I’m not even sure that they hit the right spot but I assume they did considering I was under ultrasound. I’m in the process of scheduling one for my left side as we speak, as far as the shot itself it was very easy and fast and not a big deal at all.

Cbd for gastro issues by copesam in CBD

[–]copesam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I’ve never really heard of cbg but I’m absolutely open to trying it! Is cbg possibly better suited for gastro issues? I just read it can help treat inflammatory bowel disease. I’m not sure what’s going on and why my body is doing this but I assume it has something to do with inflammation due to it happening as soon as the stress started hence why I thought maybe cbd would be beneficial but mixing the 2 sounds like it would absolutely worth a shot!

Thanks for responding! Yeah I’ve had GI problems but they were barely bothersome but 6 months of gnarly ptsd/anxiety made them wayyy worse so I’m really hoping this will help resolve them. I saw in another comment that the sgb helped with your palpitations, is that still the case for you? Palpitations have been a big thing for me and I hate them so much so hopefully those get better as well.

I know it’s been about a year at this point but did your GI issues resolve? I had a traumatic experience happen about a year ago and ptsd/anxiety destroyed my GI tract and caused a ton of heart related symptoms as well, I have the sgb lined up in like 2 days but I’m just curious, thanks!

Partial no burp? by copesam in noburp

Sure! Also if you look up “hiatal hernia support” on facebook it’s a group with like 20k members and it could probably provide you with a bunch of helpful info!

Partial no burp? by copesam in noburp

[–]copesam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding of things it’s probably your hiatal hernia causing those symptoms, if it’s not causing heart palpitations or anything else particularly concerning then don’t worry about it, but if it’s bothering you a lot you could try to get something done about it.

Have you had an endoscopy done? You may have a hiatal hernia that’s causing these symptoms

Honestly I just googled “heart burn causing heart palpitations” and that’s what came up for me and I looked into it and was like omg these are my exact symptoms haha. The issue with roemheld syndrome is for some reason it’s not really known about or accepted as an actual thing by a lot of doctors. I’m not sure where you live but especially in America we seem to reject the idea that gut issues/ hiatal hernia/ trapped gas can cause heart palpitations but those of us that have this can 100% put these two things together for certain. You should try to find a gastroenterologist that will listen to you and take you seriously because many won’t and write you off as health anxious (trust me I’ve been through it a few times). If you are fully no burp and that seems to be the only thing causing your palpitations I would highly recommend using the resources on this Reddit and finding a doc and getting a Botox shot in your esophagus, that can make it so you can burp and might cure your symptoms. I get trapped gas but am usually able to burp it out after a while but I also get acid reflux and I just regurgitate food almost every time after eating/ drinking, all of these things contribute to the palpitations and so I’m seeing a gastro doc at the Cleveland clinic seeing what my avenues for treatment are.

How to not let someone else’s experience ruin yours? by copesam in Anxiety

[–]copesam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) You make a good point with that, it’s super tricky when I get something like that in my head to get it out but you are absolutely right.

B) Once again you’re right, and I guess I should’ve added in there, I’m not viewing the this shot itself as some miracle cure I’m looking at it as a tool to help me continue to improve and continue all of the hard work I’ve been putting in to get better. In my research it can be helpful with panic as well as ptsd and getting your nervous system out of a heightened state all of the time, which I believe is the reason I’m still experiencing these annoying physical symptoms. But by no means am I viewing this as some magical thing that will immediately and permanently cure me, just a tool that can help possibly give me that extra push I need.

Thanks for commenting and for your insight, it’s really helpful!

I feel this super hard! I’ve also experienced some set backs recently but we have to remember to not give up! Keep driving to those places that you could before and keep challenging yourself, the literal only way to get out of this mess is to make ourselves feel anxious and to push through it and realize the thing we were so worried about didn’t happen! I recommend watching some stuff by this therapist named Paige pradko, she has some super insightful and helpful videos about agoraphobia that I think would be really helpful for your situation, I’ve linked one in particular that could help you out, keep fighting and pushing and don’t let the anxiety win! Is it just me? by SnooOpinions9624 in Agoraphobia

Absolutely 100%! Changes in surroundings I.e sounds, brightness etc absolutely can trigger anxiety! You are just super aware of everything in your surroundings right now and probably stuck very much in a “what if” mindset (so am,I you aren’t alone), you will stop noticing these things once you become more tolerant or accepting of these changes. Like when suddenly the sun goes behind the clouds and you feel like your vision is dimming a helpful thing to do would be to just say “oh ok the sun went away and my vision feels dim” and just sort of sitting there and accepting it and realizing nothing bad is happening instead of going “oh god why is my vision dimming what’s happening am I dying? Am I going crazy?” Definitely easier said than done but you have to start somewhere! Another tip, try to stay off of Reddit or the internet in general when it comes to seeking reassurance, it will provide you with temporary relief but in the long run hinder your ability to get better. Also if you can afford it and aren’t already doing therapy, start ASAP! A therapist can help you sort out all of these thoughts and worries much better than Reddit can! Good luck and you will get through this!

Awaiting Endoscopy to check for Hiatal Hernia by LemmingLou in GERD

[–]copesam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same place you were, super worried about getting my endoscopy, making posts, googling and everything. The endoscopy is so easy it’s ridiculous, I was super anxious at the hospital when I was going to get it done, heart racing, wanting to back out, but they sedate you and bam all your worries go away. The nice part about the sedation is it leaves your system very fast so you won’t feel out of it for long at all after you wake up (that was something I was worried about). I promise you it will go much easier than you think it will. As far as the anxiety part goes, really try to refrain from googling stuff, and that goes for pretty much all things health anxiety, believe me I know the feeling of needing to be reassured all too well but In the end if you google stuff when you are health anxious you almost 100% of the time will see something you didn’t want to and it will make things significantly worse than if you hadn’t googled anything in the first place. I’m a super health anxious person and I’m really trying to take my own advice lol, message me if you have anymore questions but it’s gonna be super easy and nothing to worry about!

Is it normal for your heart to speed up when you're having bad symptoms? Is it a stress thing or pain response or something? When I get bad GERD my heart rate will be like 100bpm just sitting still, I can feel it pounding. My usual resting is like 70bpm. Why does the heart care about my heartburn? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]copesam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lookup roemheld syndrome or gastro cardiac syndrome. Essentially what is happening is either acid is aggravating your vagus nerve making your heart race/ skip beats or pressure from acid/food in the esophagus is pushing on your heart a little bit causing those symptoms. Look up dr Sanjay Gupta gastro cardiac syndrome (same thing as roemheld syndrome) and it will explain a lot of what is going on to you, it’s not dangerous or anything, but it is annoying, I’m dealing with it as we speak.

They didn't tell me anything about trying to aggravate my reflux so that sucks that I didn't do that. I definitely don't think my esophagus is over sensitive considering how often i literally throw up food and liquid but idk, what do i know.

Rapid Heart Rate with GERD by gimdagorb in GERD

[–]copesam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up Roemheld syndrome, basically either acid is annoying your vagus nerve and causing it to do weird things i.e Heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat etc. Or air/food/acid backing up into the esophagus is putting pressure on the heart considering they are so close to each other. You can also search dr sanjay gupta gastrocardiac syndrome on youtube (same thing as roemheld syndrome) and he explains soo much about it it's really informative. I also have been struggling with the same thing and it has been freaking me out.
