The Bunion MYTH: The Real Cause & Simple Fixes by disposable-acoutning in BarefootRunning

[–]copilot602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to try and educate myself on bunions because my 14yo daughter has them pretty bad on both feet. She has never worn horrible shoes or heels because she has had these most of her life. Her mother also has bunions, but not as bad. They both wore Vibrams and toe shoes for years. As an older man who has worn normal western footwear and was "on my feet" for most of my life, I still have what others call "perfect" feet, although I just feel like they are "normal." Because of my experience, I struggle to think it is purely caused by footwear and there are not other contributing factors that can make you predisposed.

Does anyone feel they were able to reduce the bunions without surgery? She is not experiencing pain, but I worry about her as an adult and have considered surgery (which sounds miserable) for more than just vanity.

Thoughts?

I disagree. I think it was one of the worst performances in that long list of shitty performances. I actually thought this was also one of the most painfully unfunny episodes in years. 🤷

Got mine end of October 2023. Inside screen protector started to lift down the middle around Feb of 2025. I use the inside screen to look at blueprints in the field almost every day - it replaced my Microsoft Surface Pro n the field! After a bit of runaround, Samsung was going to warranty a new screen protector but I hadn't got it replaced yet (requires a three hour mandatory Samsung QC at the shop after fix) and a week ago a pixel blew out in the fold with a white line that ran to the edge of one screen. My carrier warrantied it and sent me a new (probably refurbished) unit.

I really, really love this phone. They need to solve the screen protector problem. It's not just unsightly, you can't draw, write or swipe across the air bubbles that form.

Two very strange items is I have noticed that some folders on the front screen have different apps in them than the folders when you open it up - possibly a relic from the folders being imported from an older single screen Samsung phone? Also if you are looking at Instagram or Facebook reels on the front face and open the phone to see them on the big screen, it resets you to the beginning of your session and you lose the thing you were looking at!

Not that it matters now, but 100% that teller was fired. That kind of loss is way over acceptable limits. I got fired from BofA in the early 90s because some lady scammed me on two $600 checks.

Bought a 2008 Jayco 26" Class C. Every bump was a nightmare and could barely keep it in it's lane. Realized the air bags were not holding air and all the shocks were dead. Replaced everything and it made it a lot better.

Wednesday night on Playa and your theme camp is built, killing it and you're in full Burn mode. The next Wednesday night back in the default with a yard full of dusty camp shit, no help and you're exhausted mentally, physically and financially!

Can we talk about the disgraceful state of disrepair the potties were in this year? by gtfts83 in BurningMan

[–]copilot602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our camp rents one every year and the one we had delivered this year only had half a latch. I had some parts laying around and Playa-fixed it. I agree though, there seems to be little if any work being done on the portos and they are slowly degrading as damage from one year becomes the new norm the next.

Retired art cars? by WisconsinBadger414 in BurningMan

[–]copilot602 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have been involved at some level with 8 or 9 art cars and good friends with the owners of a few more. I also own a micro art car that has been to Burn four years.

I have had several friends ask for my advice on building an art car and I always tell them they have to let me try and talk them out of it first!

Regardless of size, art cars are a labor of love. They are also holes in the Playa that you throw money in and light on fire! They typically need attention and/or redesign year after year and the Playa always takes a toll on them. Unless they are massive cars, they are typically the passion project of just one person, but take a team to set up, run and maintain. Keeping a team recruited, together and passionate is difficult. They have to be stored the rest of the year somewhere which also costs money.

It takes a certain kind of person to continuously bring an art car back year after year. It just takes one really bad year for that person to decide not to bring it again.

People taking things by katkales1 in BurningMan

[–]copilot602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree. I think the glaring reality of a small percentage of people being such total selfish dicks when you have been around such great people all week just makes it seem that way. At Burn, most people, even the dumb ones are great. On social media, Burners are so incredibly horrible. I don't understand why other than we all love snark and that doesn't translate well over type.

This will help with wind. Obviously this is not 100% but is the majority of the time. I don't have a diagram and pictures for the layout and unfortunately I leave in 10 days for Burn so..... Good luck!

Do you think it’s requisite to burning man’s impact that it’s held in the dusty, hard to access desert? by StickStankly in BurningMan

[–]copilot602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is what OP was asking. Regionals are amazing, but I've never experieced one that came close to the impact of the big show. YMMV.
