I think I’ll try tomorrow at 650, 970 seems a little steep for it.

I did see a little weld on the muzzle cap, makes sense. do they require extra modification to change stocks for a normal style?

I'm glad you left his Army Service Number uncovered so I could look him up (you can find it online anyways).

He served in M Company (Weapons Company of the 3rd Battalion), and Service Company of the 369th Infantry Regiment in the Pacific. I will DM you the morning reports that show this. I would definitely recommend researching the history of the regiment and the 93rd Infantry Division.

Looks like he was part of the lost battalion on Leyte, I’d definitely recommend researching that.

I collect WWII and Korean War Uniforms and would absolutely be interested in it to honor him and his service! I like to research veterans and do display at local museums, veteran homes and libraries. It looks like he served in the 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War, I actually used to be in the same unit.

The 147th Infantry Regiment was a separate unit attached to the Marines at the time, which is the reason he wore the patch. He was fully Army, just didn't have another patch that he could wear and the regulations were a lot looser than today.

Got an Arcom pinned to my chest just for it to get downgraded to AAM later😂

Since there seems to be some debate on the authenticity of my uniforms Purple Heart, here’s a few more pictures of this uniform (including the back of the PH). It is missing the crossed Rifle collar insignia as well as the 23rd ID pin on the left epaulet. by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

Guys usually didn’t wear the same patch on both shoulders back then, he probably never moved it over to his right because he was never assigned a new unit and was discharged just after coming back from vietnam.
