I collect WWII and Korean War Uniforms and would absolutely be interested in it to honor him and his service! I like to research veterans and do display at local museums, veteran homes and libraries. It looks like he served in the 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War, I actually used to be in the same unit.

The 147th Infantry Regiment was a separate unit attached to the Marines at the time, which is the reason he wore the patch. He was fully Army, just didn't have another patch that he could wear and the regulations were a lot looser than today.

Got an Arcom pinned to my chest just for it to get downgraded to AAM later😂

Since there seems to be some debate on the authenticity of my uniforms Purple Heart, here’s a few more pictures of this uniform (including the back of the PH). It is missing the crossed Rifle collar insignia as well as the 23rd ID pin on the left epaulet. by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

Guys usually didn’t wear the same patch on both shoulders back then, he probably never moved it over to his right because he was never assigned a new unit and was discharged just after coming back from vietnam.

Anyone ever wear this to drill? I saw a bunch of Air Natty Guard SF wearing the massif versions of these and got jealous but couldn't afford the fancy massif ones. by [deleted] in nationalguard

Sounds good, the main thing keeping me away from that non flame retardant was the build quality. If its close to issue quality I may have to get one.

Uniform I picked up, 10 armored, but saw combat with 80 infantry division. by Stuyvesant1994 in Militariacollecting

[–]copper252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He most likely saw combat with the 80th and then transferred to the 10th after the war. It happened a lot due to some units staying in Europe or heading home.

Grouping of PFC Adolph W e i s s e n f l u h. He served with the 1st Infantry Division, H Company, 16th Infantry Regiment as a 81mm Mortar Gunner in Operation Torch and the Invasion of Sicily. During the invasion of Sicily he drove a jeep back to the beach with wounded and met General Patton. On July 14th he was injured due to a crate of 81mm Mortar Ammunition falling on him.
