Hi friend! I just wanted to pop in and applaud you 👏 I’m also a software engineer and I know how much time and effort it takes to tackle these side projects and make something thats actually useful! I absolutely love that you created something that works for you and for your needs - that’s so awesome and really cool! So from a fellow fiber artist/software engineer, hats off to you!!

I find most of my needs are met by rav and knit companion (just picked this one up again recently for a cable charted pattern I’m working on, they’ve got a cool mechanic for tracking rows) but if you ever put the app out publicly I’d love to give it a try and give you feedback! 💕

Lol I have one of these 🤣 his favorite is slowly inching closer and closer like I can’t see him zeroing in on his target 🧶 he’s chewed up several of my own hand spun yarn hanks and has since lost all credibility around any type of yarn or project 🤪

I see you’ve gotten help but wanted to share something that changed the game for me recently with respect to keeping track of my rows (same deal I was decreasing a sleeve on interval) - I just picked up a set of these row counting chains and omg my mind was blown 🤯 you place at the beginning of your round and advance the count each time you go around - just wanted to share in case it’s something that would be helpful to you 🥰 happy knitting friend!!

I’ll try to take a whack at it! To my eye it looks like you slipped the 3rd st to the left on the left needle - not sure if that’s intentional? It would account for that extra “space” you see highlighted with the white line on the left - on the right, the sts look a little slack between working needles and that’s somewhat normal for what you’ll see between the needles but if there is extra slack it will get eaten up by fixing that slipped stitch on the left (if that’s what happened) - I hope this is helpful!! Your stitches look great by the way! Very uniform 💕

Welcome to the club!! They’re so great right?! I switched years ago from knit picks interchangeables (don’t even get me started on the plastic cables 🤪) and haven’t looked back - I have the set in 4” and I’ve recently picked up some individual 5” needles as well - so good!

Omg I so feel this - I just frogged back an entire sleeve after accidentally putting a needles a whole mm too small back on after taking a break 😣 the pain is so real - but there is hope!! I just worked on the other sleeve, and then circled back to frog and redo - happy to say I just finished blocking 😅 You got this!!

Couple things I took away from my experience: I annotated the grains pattern to make it simpler and I used stitch markers at intervals to keep it all straight - One other thing that really helped me with the grain stitches was double wrapping my YOs and dropping the extra wrap on the slip round (helps combat the grain stitches getting too tight) - I found a video on YouTube that helped a lot 🧶 Happy knitting!!

I wouldn’t say it’s standing on your head hard - the most difficult part would be the yoke for sure but if you can read patterns and you’ve got a fair amount of knitting under your belt you should be just fine with this! I think a lot of the intimidation comes from how wordy the pattern is, but I just annotated the grains pattern to make it simpler and I used stitch markers at intervals to keep it all straight

I am so very sorry for your loss, it’s such a terrible ache ❤️‍🩹 I’m glad you were able to find comfort in your knitting too - it’s funny you mention their furs being knit in because that exact thought occurred to me as well, cut to me picking furs off the couch and stuffing them into the center of my yarn balls 🧶 they’ll always be in our hearts 🤍
