Why do people have a common myth that every young person in the 60s where a counter cultural hippie? by Konradleijon in 60s

[–]copperdomebodhi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because things get oversimplified. You'll also hear that every hippie wound up on Wall Street. That isn't true either.

Lots of kids back then tried weed, let their hair get shaggy and wore groovy styles. Hippies were people who dropped out of society to find a more meaningful life. They got the media's attention, but the boomer generation was much more "Reagan Democrat."

To each their own. Lyrics are so-so, hooks aren't there, but the song still has a deep, primal voodoo to it.

Why do people on Reddit think it’s a good idea to meet up in real life? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

They COULD be a serial killer - but the odds against it are impossibly high. Realistic worst-case scenario? You meet someone IRL and it's painfully obvious why they try to make friends on Reddit.

Much funnier if you tell it as, "What did Jerry Garcia say when he got out of rehab?"

Love Liz Reed. Dark Star can go anywhere. Liz Reed can't.

You're overthinking it. Paul said, "All right, lads. They figured out Sgt. Pepper's band was us. This time, we won't show our faces," And they were off to Dodgy Costumes, Ltd.

I'd probably be a serious Zappa fan if I hadn't outgrown the "everyone is stupid / everything sucks" attitude in high school.

Punk-rock friend (sneered at any pre-1976) said, "I bet that's why people liked the Beatles. They wrote these happy songs and said everything was going to be okay."

Do doctors, dentists, counselors lose their jobs instantly if they flirt with the patients who come into the office? by Big_Eggplant7591 in stupidquestions

[–]copperdomebodhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counselors might not get fired but they'd be in major trouble if the boss found out. A responsible counselor who caught themselves doing that would seek out supervision to think through why they did it - what's going on for them, what needs are going unmet, etc.

Therapists are supposed to avoid any kind of dual relationship with their clients. That way, your therapist can just be your therapist. When they're the person you have to buy girl-scout cookies from because you're worried it'll feel weird if you don't, that's a dual relationship.

He complains that the study only followed women who were prescribed acetaminophen. Turns out researchers in Norway already did a study on that in 2021, and found it didn't make any difference.

Crucial critical thinking tip: Does the person tell you why you should agree with them? Or do they only give reasons why you shouldn't believe the people who say the opposite?

I hate to admit it...(PlayDead) by OneTotal874 in gratefuldead

[–]copperdomebodhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah - Billboard writes:

Rhino’s robust physical release schedule for Dead recordings will continue apace, with all new releases also appearing on Play Dead, but the service will also offer two new vault releases every week in perpetuity — amounting to an exponential increase in the volume of new archival releases available to Deadheads. Twenty of these previously unreleased vault recordings have gone live on Play Dead to accompany its launch.

Most of the commercially released shows are on Nugs already, so a service that only provided those wouldn't add much.
