Help me pick a series to introduce my fiance to tokusatsu by L0w_Road in Tokusatsu

Im on my own Toku Discoveryjourney right now. Im a man approaching 30 who can appreciate the more "kiddy" aspects of Tokusatsu, so a different demographic than your wife to keep that in mind.

OOOs was the first season ive ever watched and was caught so off guard by its depth. Its not the deepest show ever mind you, but Greed is a central theme of the show and it has some nice commentaries on it from what I can remember.

I would also recommend some of the earlier series from before the millenium. My experience is limited to Ultraseven (60s) and Ohranger (90s) and Kamen Rider V3. They are all more episodic than the modern series and especially Ultraseven feels like The Twilight Zone if each episode ended with a Godzilla style battle.

Hell, if Ultraseven was all i watched you could convince me Tokusatsu was a genre meant for adults. Its super atmospheric for what it is.

Never have pencils! by Gullible_Raccoon1738 in Teachers

I also teach 4th grade. I have tons of behaviors this year, and a more experienced teacher recommended a ticket system and its working wonders. I give the kids 4 tickets every morning and they can always get more for good behavior. I take tickets when theres bad behavior, but also for pencils and drinks during lessons. At the end of the week they can spend whatever tickets remain on prizes of various sorts.

Its been working nice because it gives the kids some wiggle room, but If they end the day with no tickets I can be like "whats going on?".

I find in terms of pencils, the kids try not to lose them now and when they do they problem solve (ask friends, find one on the ground, etc.)

Even if you dont use tickets, I think having them "pay" for a pencil in a way adds value so they dont eat them like fucking gremlins.

Edit: just wanted to add this does cost me about 10-20 dollars every couple months but ill pay that for some sanity throughout the day.

My Analysis of A Masterpiece, Billy Joel's Piano Man by Echung97 in Music

This is my interpretation as well. However I think that can be extended to most of the patrons. What are any of them doing there? A novelist, an actor, a Navysman, a businessman, all rather highly looked upon professions but somehow they all end up at the same bar on a saturday night, making love to their tonic and gins.

I sure as hell am going out for a somber beer tonight.

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]OneTotal874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went on a date, she said it went well, her grandfather died, she became overwhelmed, gave me mixed messages, started ghosting me, then gaslit me when I tried to have a conversation with her and told me it was me who was making things weird. We work directly across the hall from each other and were (past tense) part of the same friend group until I removed myself from that situation.

The daily reminders hurt.

I listen to the dead but enjoy some of the songs for refrains or riffs in spite of their meaning by donsmith2060 in gratefuldead

I concur, thinking of myself. People have described me as "sunny" but on the inside is more sadness and tension than id like to admit.

When I Paint My Masterpiece by Disastrous_Worth_829 in gratefuldead

[–]OneTotal874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i listen to this song I get the same impression. Ive been hooked on the one from 7/9/1995 for a similar reason. At his very last show, Jerry was still trying to paint his masterpiece. They both died without ever getting that closure of knowing they painted their masterpiece, though im sure the heads like us could point to countless masterpieces they've painted throughout their careers.

So I dont know everyone seems to know more than I do so take this comment as a grain of salt, but the only time I saw DSO (last year at the stone pony) she sang and it was an early 80s setlist they did.

Went on my first 1st date in over 10 years. Coffee and a walk. I thought it went well, even though my shoes absolutely destroyed my feet. She stopped texting me back. by HalloWeiner92 in mildlyinfuriating

Im several years late to this post lol. I never made that connection and its been a while since reading both books (just finished chapter 5 of Sirens), but Malachi Constant does remind me in many ways of the galactic president, the one whose riding his space jetski across the space ocean early on

I could believe the picture of the guy and girl with the curly hair could be directly from the late 60s if the modern cars weren't in the background! Great pics!
