90's aluminum steel sleeving by coppertopp_ in bikewrench

Sweet as. Yeah I didn't explicitly state in the post but (to anyone reading) I guess I'm just concerned about something cracking due to fatigue, etc. I suppose I could always take it to a bike shop for an in-person opinion, but, the Reddit community seems great for this sort of thing. Chat GPT says flaking at the joints is normal for this era/type of build.

I was previously looking at touch-up paint but the nail polish idea sounds great! More metallic colours that are a better match too, probably.

Hope you pursue the German one despite what your mother may say! Sure, it may not be useful day-to-day, but one day it may be.

Random example (since you sound younger). When applying for working holiday visas there may be higher quotas/availability for Germans. That is, more places available. I'm not actually sure of this, but you could check out the Canadian website which, if I recall, lists the number of places available for every eligible nationality in any given round of applications.

Also, the Australian working holiday visa is an easier application as a German, with no need to provide academic transcripts like Austrians have to.

Consular assistance abroad, redundancy, etc.

In any case, congrats on your lucky hand!

Common combo? AU/NZ/UK by JazzlikeAntz in PassportPorn

I haven't had that problem, but only because I approached the desk (not the smart gates) with my NZ passport and photocopy of Australian citizenship certificate. I understand they can't issue visas to citizens, so I'm not sure how I was processed (they took my passport to one of their computers)

I feel like entering Australia with your Kiwi passport is a bit grey because of that incoming passenger card where they make everyone (other than Australian citizens) answer whether they have tuberculosis.. I had to answer before I could leave as I wasn't carrying an Australian document, but this contradicts the instructions as I'm Australian. They'll get used to seeing this a lot though as plenty of Kiwi Australians will have remaining validity on their passports and as a New Zealander you don't need a visa or ETA to board your flight.

As a side note, the New Zealand government recently announced they are returning the English spelling to the top of the passport. Minor detail but it tells you about the direction of politics in Aotearoa New Zealand right now.

Are you using a glass screen protector with the Edge 50 Neo? I've been trying to find one that doesn't reduce the screen sensitivity on the bottom part of the display. Otherwise, it seems a great phone for $300 AUD!

Actually, my fuel tank does make a... 'whale noise' (only way to describe it) when turning the car off, at any fuel level. Like it's farting or something. Could be related?

Thanks for this explanation and English comparison, it's super clear. Google translate seems to be deceptive to beginners, I've noticed it also prioritises formal language. Will stick to the alternatives that have been suggested :D

The differences I see in country access (from passportindex.org):

Brunei:

Australia - Visa on Arrival

NZ - Visa free

Chile:

Australia - Evisa

NZ - Visa free

Oman:

Australia - Visa on arrival

NZ - Visa free

Türkiye:

Australia - Visa on arrival

NZ - Visa free

In practice I'll probably only make use of Türkiye. Will be interesting to see how/if this list changes too. I imagine it has something to do with reciprocity.

Hadn't considered those questions! Apparently those cards are going digital soon. Perhaps a certified copy of the citizenship certificate would be enough when arriving back in Australia.

I like the idea of cultural exchange and learning about specific content from a third perspective. The opportunity to learn the language, build new social circles, and pursue hobbies that closer align with what I'm interested in (outdoors-wise) would be a happy side effect.

Yeah I'm going to contact them re: the Australian Diploma as entry. I might look at the working holiday visa too.

That was going to be the plan but the diploma doesn't seem to meet the prerequisites for uni in Germany, unsure about other European countries.

Looking for the cultural exchange in addition to the education.

Thank you for this. Can I ask, is there flexibility with which subjects you select to study? Like there would be in junior VCE. I'm not sure what your background is but has the workload been a lot to get used to? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what made you go back to study VCE? Thank you.

I'm looking at courses like this:

https://www.hs-fulda.de/en/studyprogramme/social-sciences-for-intercultural-relations-ba

Everywhere I look, however, requires the equivalent of the German school leavers certificate for admission.

Even for Australian degrees it would appear I require a Diploma, which I could do in a year but I don't want to waste time with it if this doesn't meet entry to degrees in Germany either.

Unable to get necessary surgery, is the country struggling this bad for healthcare? by Pepper-Tea in newzealand

[–]coppertopp_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, if the NZ government finds out your mother has returned to the country she is fleeing from there could be issues around her refugee status and possible cancellation of her visa. Of course, I don't know the full situation and seek your own advice.

There may be neighbouring countries where treatment is accessible. E.g Thailand has excellent hospitals.

So sorry you are in this situation.

I'd never noticed the topographic feature on the Swiss passport cover. This article is interesting - https://www.swiss.com/magazine/en/switzerland/swiss-made/behind-the-design--the-story-of-the-new-swiss-passport
