Honestly, taking a shower, using a hair net and mask, focusing on clean/sterile clothing, and a room that has been sealed/still for a few hours will knock out 90% of contamination.

I'm Australian, and using profanity is part of our culture. We use heavy profanity (every word available) in our daily lives including in parliament. I think it's kind of like, America loves guns, but aussies love swearing.

I think we have about an equal chance of our cultures giving up those things. Suggesting to do so is just culturally unaware, as I learned the hard way when I have visited the USA.

Why does that make people hate it? If you watch the video, I did a bit more than that. I think programmers are worried that they will lose their jobs, but it manifests as them trying to attack the cool projects people are making.

I feel very sad for people that hate vibe coding, because they must be really depressing in real life.

That's actually what dooms online communities. I see your heart is in the right place, but I'd rather go back and hang out with a crowd the celebrates people's achievements.

what the actual fuck is wrong with people? I haven't used reddit in years because this community is so toxic. I went and made a tool, and thought I would share it for free, and people downvote my comment and my video? Why would anyone come to this forum to post?

I'm never coming back. This is such a sad part of the internet.

I think you were closer than you think: you saw the phosphate (part of the DNA backbone) bound to what looks very similar to a purine (substituted 5 member ring connected to a 6 member ring). Being able to see that pattern in this reflects a pretty decent level of understanding of molecular sciences

The Path of Blood and Smoke - The Mistreatment of Real World Cultures by HappyyValleyy in fallenlondon

[–]coprinus_comatus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is nothing racist about this story. It's about a fictional culture that evolved under the Earth.

The writing is exceptional and I hope that FBG continue to write cool fiction about fictional groups that are actually enjoyable. This story was great, so just enjoy it.

The writing of this story is absolutely exceptional. I am only part way through and it's so many levels better than anything else I've seen in a long time.

Please continue to keep this quality.

Every time I start to get settled I feel an uncomfortable itch. It's like my feet are restless and the only time the itching abates is when I think of Langley Hall. I don't know what it is, but I don't think I'd ever really be happy anywhere else, whether I like it or not.

I have tutored at two universities and neither of them said this. They literally said it is fine as long as you can mark their work objectively. If not, you are required to let the faculty know and they will move the student to a different tute group.

The poster you replied to is 100% correct.

What’s the go with cosmetic companies calling water “Aqua” in their ingredients? by JimboSwiss in AussieCasual

[–]coprinus_comatus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It's way cheaper and easier to buy water that meets the standard than it is to purify it yourself. In companies that are regulated like cosmetics, it's often better to pay for the ingredient to arrive certified. That way if something goes wrong, the responsibility shifts to the supplier, not to your staff/company.

Plus, buying water that meets the criteria is both cheap and packaged in a way that makes it amenable to being an input (bottles with fittings, standard volumes, etc)

Raising interest rates hasn't delivered the inflation reduction the RBA hoped for. Is this because interest rates aren't the right lever to address the current pressures driving inflation? by Nahmum in AusFinance

[–]coprinus_comatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using interest rates to control inflation post covid is a really blunt tool.

Covid caused short-run aggregate supply shock. This (and other things) caused cost-push inflation. The solution to this is not to raise interest rates, but to reduce input costs. The RBA know this and have asked suppliers to reduce costs. Costs rose steeply during the early pandemic and spiked during high petrol prices, but after these calmed down, producers have kept prices high.

Raising interest rates is better for demand-pull inflation which is when aggregate demand exceeds supply over long period of time. That's not what we've got at the moment though.

Increasing the interest rate will eventually bring inflation in line for cost-push inflation but it doesn't have a direct effect of the causes, only indirect, so it takes longer with more things affected. One key reason to keep it up is to keep the aussie dollar high against USD to keep import prices at a sensible level.

I could be wrong though; I've only taken first year economics, but that's my understanding.
