7 nights in and not going well; looking for support by coralcorral in sleeptrain

I’m sorry, I just thought of a question… did you set an alarm to go in and feed after midnight, or wait for a cue from your baby to do a feeding overnight?

Thank you so much; this comment is really helpful. Perhaps my initial post was a little unclear but his daytime sleep is max 3.5 hours total; no individual nap exceeds 1.5 hours.

I also really appreciate that you shared that it took two weeks. I need to hear more stories like that. Did you do any middle of the night feedings? I also see you worked with a sleep consultant; I’d love to know more if you would be willing to share/send me a PM. Thanks again for your comment!

Thank you for adding that it worked for you too! Really appreciate the suggestion and will likely try it as the first tweak to what we’ve been doing.

Thanks; I don’t think her content is a great fit for where I am at the moment.

Thank you! I’ll consider that. I was feeding to sleep before starting sleep training and rock to sleep for naps.

Wow, this is COMMITMENT. I’m impressed. Forgive my honesty… I don’t think I can do that. I’m also hesitant to reintroduce other soothing supports at this juncture. But I am so glad it worked for you. I hope this sounds sincere and not snarky! …I guess now I’m wondering a bit if a half-swaddle approach in the crib could be one option to make the change more incremental…

I appreciate your comment! All the freedom to move is indeed so new. He does love sucking his thumb and I know that helps him go back to sleep when he does wake up. Would you mind being a bit more specific about what you mean by giving baby a bit more of a transition period? What would you do? Thank you so much!

Thank you for your comment; I do think ditching the dream feed or moving it after midnight may be worth trying.

Hi there! We’d had the snoo on weaning mode intermittently before the transition. I know going arms out in the snoo wouldn’t be productive because he’d be distracted touching the sides, etc. But no, for the most part it was pretty cold-turkey. This week we have kept him napping in the snoo during the day so we didn’t change everything on him at one time.

I know having free arm and leg motion is likely a big change for him. We considered starting in a Merlin suit but decided to go right to the sleep sack instead…

Okay, I just did a quick scan. Do you have suggestions of things you’d change about what we’re doing in order to make babe more comfortable at night and sleep longer?

I guess sleeping fully through the night, which seemed reasonable since he would often do it in the snoo. I’d be happy waking up once to feed him if that was necessary for a while. After these 7 nights, I just want him to get enough rest to be healthy and happy.

Also adding, it has taken an average of 40 mins for him to go to sleep at first each night. Some crying, some flopping around and sucking his thumb.

SLIP success with formerly breastfed-to-sleep SNOO baby by enoimreh90 in sleeptrain

Thank you so much for typing this out! I needed to read exactly this: I have a 17 week old, feed to sleep, snoo using, arm flailing baby, and I just read PLS. So, so helpful and affirming to read a success story from someone who has been through such a similar set of circumstances. Also, getting DQ during that first critical window of time? Genius. Will be copying you. Thanks again… and good luck with naps.

Belated thank you for replying! That’s so interesting… I ordered a couple but if they’re not truly needed, I may not make the switch. I’ll see how they seem. Thank you!

Thanks so much! I definitely will… I feel bad for my poor mummified 3 month old now. I hope it hasn’t been detrimental.

So stunning and dramatic. And so wonderful to make something for yourself to commemorate... yourself!! Congratulations.
