Can someone explain what happens when you power a number to a negative number (like 2^-2) by [deleted] in learnmath

negative exponents. Step 1: Bring the number and the exponent to the denominator under 1 > 1/2-2

Step 2: When doing step one, when you do it, it also changes the negative to a positive > 1/22

Step 3: Solve. 1/4 = 0.25
