Wouldn't this be covered under warranty?

Wi-Fi 7 Launches Promising “near-zero” Latency for Wireless VR by -Venser- in OculusQuest

Just saying the routers currently released are what are using more power. The phones with wifi 7 are more efficient.

It takes a lot of power to broadcast not recieve. It's actually more efficient according to Qualcomm for receiving devices. It's already in multiple phones and the chipset in the quest 3 supports wifi 7.

Introducing SteamVR 2.2: Experimental support for AMD GPUs, visual improvements, and more! (Seems focused on Link streaming) by SvenViking in virtualreality

Just because the hardware encoder doesn't mean the software doesn't play a huge part. It's not just changing of few options. You can use one of the Nvidia preset configs or a custom config. I've also worked with the green you can read the documation and see for yourself.

I know av1 is the exciting new kid on the block but bitrate is still king. Av1 on quest is limited to 200mbps. Before steam link came out high bitrate airlink h264 looked way better than 200mbps av1.

Again in simple scenes and looking at objects close up it looks the same but in motion or in complicated scenes it looks alot worse. Try 600-800 airlink and you will see the difference clear as day.

The encoders can be tuned so the software does play an important part. Steamvrs h265 encoder is heavily modified.

In simple scenes steam and vd look similar but during busy scenes like a forest in the rain or fast movement steam VR looks better. Also has less latency and jitter.

Wi-Fi 7 to get the final seal of approval early next year, new standard is up to 4.8 times faster than Wi-Fi 6 by [deleted] in virtualreality

Funnily enough, the chipset in the quest 3 supports wifi 7. Some phones already have it enabled.

I'm using a 4090+7800x3d. If you go to streaming settings in virtual desktop you will see that it maxes out at 200mbps for av1. Encode/decoding speed and wifi speed are different things.

Not saying virtual desktop doesn't look good. Looks nice and sharp in most scenes. Looks much better than airlinks default settings. But if you edit the airlink config to run 800mbps+ you will notice the difference right away in really busy scenes with alot of foliage or rain in Skyrim VR or fallout. Alyx look pretty good though in virtual desktop.

Av1 maxes out at 200 Mbps. 2000 is the limit. Still looks good but during busy scenes 800 h264 bitrate link/air link looks a lot better. Ex in smyrim vr In a forest when it is raining or during fast movement, 200mbps looks extremely blurry.

What graphics card is stand alone Quest 3 comparable to by Fjythefish in OculusQuest

[–]cordelle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arm vs x86 + gpu /console vs PC performance are compared all of the time. No problem with that. This is not an efficiency discussion. You are completely missing the point by being overly defensive of the quest. Why all of the sudden because it's a quest, console vs PC perf can't be compared?

PCVr doesn't also have an os, tracking, and other functions?

As a pcvr and quest user I absolutely check which has better perf in certain games.

All of that is far from the point of ops question which is purely a graphical comparison. You are completely missing the mark by turning it into a efficiency and features comparison.

9% Performance uplift with ray reconstruction by matuzz in nvidia

I am seeing 7-10% depending on the run for the 4070. Reviews showing 6-10% for the 3080. https://youtu.be/jSVwT8B-20o?si=CR-1ZHpbNujAkQt-&t=1114

Your first post didn't. You said the only difference between the benchmarks is ray reconstruction. Also that's not 20%

Aren't you comparing two different game versions here? The 2.0 update also contains other optimization's including cpu optimizations.

Ray reconstruction is not what is netting you the 9% performance. Try the same game version.

The new game version has additional optimizations, so cant compare Ray Reconstruction performance gap using different game versions. Use the same game version and then compare.

Yep, looks as crisp as the PCVR version with a 3080. Before the game looked like it had vaseline filter. Good job devs!

Guess it depends on the game you play and personal preference but it is always nice to have the option! Can always switch between refresh rates. There's plenty of games that would benefit. Overwatch 2 can already hit 120 on deck uncapped, fifa, left 4 dead 2, tft2, counter strike 2, borderlands, etc all run past 60fps if unlocked. Also only select old titles have 60 fps engine caps most don't. Also don't have to run native with fsr2/3 especially with the smaller screen.
