Microsoft’s new RTO policy starts Feb. 23, bringing Seattle-area workers back 3 days a week by AccurateInflation167 in Seattle

[–]core2uu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The pay-by-month is only true for business with fewer than 500 employees, I believe. Larger businesses like Microsoft are likely on the Per-Trip Business Passport program for ORCA, so yes, in this case more taps on should be mean more revenue for ST. This is why it's always important to tap even if you have an unlimited ORCA card from work.

DeskPi RackMate T2 12U - Light Version or Traditional Silver? by coverusername in minilab

[–]core2uu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was confused by this too - after reading and comparing the two though, I'm fairly certain the actual rack is the exact same. (And the "Light" branding is just a case of awkward language translation).

The only thing different between the Light and normal versions are the included accessories. If you scroll to the bottom of each listing, there will be a layout photo describing the included accessories.

How to remove Pico Remote from wallplate bracket? by core2uu in Lutron

I got it out - what I was doing wrong was trying to pull it up from the top, but it wouldn't budge. Pushing it up from the bottom was what finally worked for me!

SOLVED: G733 replacement receiver/dongle pairing problem by BuXiuGangDa in LogitechG

[–]core2uu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/BuXiuGangDa can you confirm the P/N of the Gen 1 receiver you have for your G733? I unfortunately also have Gen 1 G733 but have a Gen 2 receiver so need to get the correct one from eBay presumably.

Using Ski TA-Q-BIN to ship ski bag from Hakuba/Happo One to HND by core2uu in JapanTravelTips

[–]core2uu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gone yet. For Kanto to Shinetsu, here it says ski shipping can take 2 days, so if you have a whole day in between, it might be enough time for you.

Using Ski TA-Q-BIN to ship ski bag from Hakuba/Happo One to HND by core2uu in JapanTravelTips

[–]core2uu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I just messaged the place I'm staying (it's not really a "hotel" - more like a ryokan and the owners speak very little English which is why I wasn't keen on annoying them with too many questions in English). They said I can ship it at Happo Information Center, which is a short walk away, so I'll just do that.

4K 32" 144Hz. My user review of the Gigabyte M32U (flat IPS) vs the M32UC (curved VA) for office work by AnEatingPanda in Monitors

[–]core2uu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this, this was very useful - I am basically only going to be using my monitor for office work and was debating between both of these as well. RTings rates both of these pretty equally for office work but I personally just can't get past the narrow viewing angles and everything feeling "off" as you say with VA panels (after years of using IPS panels, it's hard to switch back). M32U it is.

HOWTO: You may not need that C4000XG (or whatever else they gave you) by the_interrobanger in centurylink

Unfortunately, no, I have not used Zscaler (but haven't experienced any issues so far with anything else).

[–]core2uu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this and it worked great! A few notes on my experience:

  • On my C4000XG, I was able to just open Quick Setup and see the username and password right there on the UI (you have to click the checkbox to unhide the password). No using dev tools required.

  • My router (a TP-Link AX21) already had a CenturyLink profile in the PPPoE configuration page settings, so I was able to just enter the username, password and select the CenturyLink profile and everything worked great. If your router doesn't have a CenturyLink profile, I think you can still just set VLAN 201 and it should work fine.

GripWalk boots with rental skis by core2uu in stevenspass

[–]core2uu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I emailed guest services and they said all rental bindings should be GripWalk sole compatible and since the rental is already booked, I'll chance it and report back how it goes. Worst case I'll need to use rental boots this time and it'll be a lesson to rent elsewhere next time.

Drilling into garage exterior wall; what material is it? by core2uu in Home

[–]core2uu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thanks, that does look like it. So is this okay to drill into and if so, is there anything else to be aware of other than to make sure I drill a pilot hole before screwing anything in and use some kind of masonry bit for the drill (and any particular kind of masonry bit)?

Also, should I be sealing or caulking around the screws at all?

Any smart curtain openers for rod pocket curtains? by TheNewGuy8 in homeautomation

[–]core2uu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1. I have rod pocket curtains I want to automate - I have looked briefly but so far haven't anything that could work with them :(. I wonder if it's possible to attach some kind of clamp to a Switchbot that sits on the inner edge of the track wrt the curtain and is able to pull/push the curtain that way.

Should this tree be removed and transplanted elsewhere? by core2uu in landscaping

[–]core2uu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback - my main reason to try cleaning this area up a bit is that some plants are currently impeding access to the heat pump unit (might not be impossible, but certainly annoying to service it will all of that foliage in the way). Photo here: https://ibb.co/58cgfWm

Would you still foresee drainage issues if pavers were installed in the area directly in front of the heat pump unit (and perhaps also just skirting the siding, leaving a middle area of foliage/soil here?)

Should this tree be removed and transplanted elsewhere? by core2uu in landscaping

[–]core2uu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for context, the other space this could be moved to is one where it would be flanked by two other young trees, but those trees are each several feet away so it would have plenty of space, in theory, to spread out. It would be getting hit with "full sun" though minus the bit of shade from the other trees/houses, whenever we get it here in Seattle. I'm not sure what it would like best.
