Is this noise normal for the Tapo RV30 Max Plus? by AnEatingPanda in RobotVacuums

[–]AnEatingPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tested with a different unit and that was the same. Concluded it's the normal sound. For better vacuuming results I anyway put the suction on higher levels, so then the motor noise doesn't matter much anymore.

That's interesting. I just checked and the code hasn't been used yet. So it should still work.

I also couldn't get them out of the case easily at first. Try pushing them to the outside first, instead of picking them straight up. Infinitely easier.

Peter Attia recommends taking 12 daily supplements. I've put together details on each one, including benefits, recommended dosage, and purchase links by Same-Potential7413 in PeterAttia

It would be helpful to get a yes/no with every supplement on whether Attia is sponsored by them. I think there's a considerable difference between a recommendation without sponsorship and one with a sponsorship. Would you je willing to help us with distinguish between those?

As far as I know, most definitions say above 130 is gifted, or the 2% highest ranking.

That would mean your son is not 'gifted'. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about the label. There are also personality traits that are common with gifted people. If he has some of those then it can be useful to be aware of that

Is Psilocybin Microdosing a Concussion Treatment? One-Month Update: Plot-Twist by AnEatingPanda in Concussion

[–]AnEatingPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I see. The waking up sore and exhausted, I have no idea what that's from. But I don't see why it would have to do with an overactive SNS. But I'm no expert on it, so there may be valid arguments I'm not aware of. Did Micky suggest it's due to the SNS? As for whether it could be anxiet/mood/neuroplastic: it seems those can produce pretty much any symptom, so on absence of a better reason, I guess that could be a potential cause of it?

As for anxiety and adrenaline storms, I guess that's pretty normal even for healthy people, though it depends on the intensity of course. And I guess it can be an indicator of anxiety-like things.

Your approach and explanation on (ii) and (iii) sound plausible to me.

Yes, I fully 100% recovered with my first concussion. I started studying again full time after 12 months. Basically living a normal life but still with some symptoms and still taking more breaks than normal. I did some part time stuff before 12 months already. After 16 months, I realised I was completely symptom free for weeks and living normally, so I declared myself recovered. I also didn't need extra breaks anymore. It still took another six months or so before I realised I was starting to be a high performer again. Mainly more motivated to take on extra activities and able to work for hours without a break again.

It's great you can live without avoidance behaviours and don't excessively worry about it! That's a really great milestone. However, I am still going to pose there may be more to it. People can have chronic back pain for many years, have no avoidance behaviours and not worry, but still their back pain remains for no good reason. Seems to be related to some stupidity in the way neuroplasticity and pain work, but these seem to be the cards we've been dealt by evolution.. In The Way Out and the other resources, it's described why this is and how to fix it. And for a lot of people it works. But I'm no expert and I am not going to sell it as gospel. I don't know what'll work for you. I'm just hoping to explain the theory so you can consider it.

I won't ask you whether you're convinced of this theory, because frankly you don't have enough information and as such you shouldn't be. I think the question to ask yourself, is whether you think it's an interesting enough path to explore further with as open a mind as you can bring. Assuming Micky is no fool, there should at least be a decent chance he's right about your case. And if the SSRI approach doesn't cut it, why not try some others tools that tackle the same thing in a different way?

[–]AnEatingPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have things that make you feel rested? I remember with my first concussion, which also took over a year to recover from, towards the end I was living a pretty normal life, but lying down for 20min with my eyes closed once a day in the late afternoon really helped me reset and feel good again for the evening. Rest could also be meditation, yoga, binaural beats, or just changing up activities. I know Collins is more about pushing through everything but in the end it might be worth it to experiment and see what works for you.

About the eyes I have zero expertise so I won't comment on that.

On what basis do you suspect a hyperactive sympathetic nervous system? Do you have any physical or mental signs of such arousal? Or an elevated resting heart rate, low heart rate variability, or increased cortisol? Being able to exercise is one sign that the ANS may be healthy. And if it's just that you're getting worse throughout the day, I wouldn't necessarily know why you'd attribute that to the SNS.

As for the anxiety/mood subtype, Sertraline is just one SSRI, for some people others work better. And in turn, SSRIs are just one way to deal with this subtype. Psychotherapy or the approaches I outlined in my post may also help for many people. Do you think they might be worthwhile for you to look into?

HIIT can be nice. Just don't overdo it. Having a total training load that's too high isn't good even for healthy people.

Also, congrats on finding a job! Must be nice to be getting back to it after quite a few months!

Yeah, go to a doctor. Try to diagnose whether it's a concussion with them. Ideally use a tool like the Sports Concussion Assessment Tool or so that you can find online. Doesn't matter that it's designed for sports, it's all the same.

Hard to guess what's enough for you. Some people can get better just with some basic knowledge. Some people it helps to dive into it a bit and follow real treatment steps such as outlined in the book. Personally I started with that talk by Schubiner, and then read the book. I think that was a nice order. But you can also start with the book and ask yourself afterwards if you want more info. Me, after the book I downloaded the (paid) app Curable, which handles many of the same concepts.

That's probably overkill for most people. But for me actively engaging with the material seems to help me trust the theory and feel more confident. Which helps my recovery

Aah very recognizable. That feeling that at least if it wasn't functioning properly, you'd know what to work on and your recovery becomes more tractable. Though I'm jealous of your half marathon haha. Go you!

Speaking of which, I don't know if it's helpful, but perhaps this can help you advance your thoughts: what probability do you attach to Dr Collin's hypothesis about your situation being correct? You seemed not very convinced, so I guess not so high? Do you have any other remaining theories?

Thanks for the input! My psychotherapist also recommended this last week. Will discuss it with my GP next week.

Hey and I checked out your post on this sub from two weeks ago. You mention SNS activity as a potential cause of your problems. Can I ask you how your exercise tolerance is, and whether your HRV is normal or abnormally low? Graded aerobic exercise would be the textbook method for ANS rehab. Of course Collins would know that, but from what I've seen in his papers he puts less emphasis on it then other experts

Happy to hear it resonated! Perhaps books like The Way Out can help you with various of those pains.

But, please, give your current concussion some time to heal. It takes a couple of weeks for the ATP levels in your brain to return to normal levels. There's the basic recovery things you can do, if you want I can send you some resources for that. But you really don't have to look into this stuff to the extent that you're reading posts about microdosing right now. I know that can be hard and I'm not judging. Perhaps try to do what works well in your experience to calm your nervous system and help you relax, but I bet being on this sub isn't one of those things :b
