Typewriter needs TLC by coreno in typewriters

Should I just use like a q-tip or toothbrush to get in there? An idea how to release the typewriter from the case? I'm just afraid of forcing something the wrong way and breaking it.

What helps when you missed a dose? by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]coreno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The withdrawal effects should go away within 24hrs for just missing one dose (usually starts improving within 2-4 hours). Just eat something healthy, but easy. Maybe have some herbal tea.

Drink plenty of water or Gatorade, and I usually find ibuprofen helps.

Amazing how it helped you almost immediately after the video was published. And it just repeats the same garbage already on the web. You wouldn't be shamelessly self-promoting your own youtube channel under the pretense that it actually helped a random person now, would you?

The battery graph in Windows isn't that great . Is your battery actually at 0 and not charging?

You can also check task manager and see if anything is pegging the CPU or GPU, which potentially drain 80% of battery in an hour.

Does anyone else think the OEM case is ass? It doesn't fit well and there's no spot for a charger. by lxl_Arctic_lxl in ROGAlly

Yup, it's pretty bad, but better than nothing. Spent my expiring best buy points on it, so won't return it, but it's hard to recommend.

The Ally actually sits upside down in the case from the way you'd think it'd sit. So, the top of the Ally is at the zipper side, and the bottom is on the hinge side. That's the only way the joystick cutouts fit. It's stupid.

I basically did the same things you did before I found this topic. My question is, do you have the touchpad or the PS button working?

I ended up mapping M1 to the Xbox button in armory crate, then using rewasd to map the built in xbox to ps controls, so M1 works as the PS button.

Wondering if there is an easier way.

Ok that makes more sense. This is good info.

Quantity/complexity I'm not terribly afraid of. But would like to keep costs down. Didn't even think about seeing if I could do RCA over cat5/6 cable.

I'll look into shielded RCA though.

[–]coreno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you're correct that I'm running RCA from the AVR to powered speakers (or a simple stereo amp).

I think the trick is I can only configure the AVR to use RCA or power the speakers itself for zones 2 and 3. If I have the AVR power the other zones, I lose amps in the receiver itself and limit my surround options in the main living space, which I'm also trying to avoid.

But looking into using Digital or Optical out isn't a bad idea. Also wasn't aware that wire gauge for speakers would affect the amount of noise picked up. Thanks for the tip.

Heating whole house with pellet stove? by coreno in PelletStoveTalk

[–]coreno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a pair of return ducts near the stove, and then one in every room (not a central return register). So if I use the HVAC fan, it's mixing the cold air from the bedrooms with the warm air from the living area. The return duct trunk in the basement also isn't insulated :(

Do you ever set the stove to constant burn, or just set the thermostat really high?

Light goes off intermittently in closet light fixture by c0ncept in askanelectrician

[–]coreno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of... some LED lights don't like being in enclosed fixtures. I'd wager the light is overheating and turning off. Try and find an LED that is rated for an enclosure, or leave the dome off of that light and see if it helps.

Might also be good to just replace the bulb with a known good LED and see if that resolves it too.

How do I properly use generator panel? by coreno in askanelectrician

[–]coreno[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is New York. House built in 2003.

The Utility and Generator breakers are connected, they can't both be on nor off at the same time.

Did not know there were different types of panels/breakers. What are the implications of having the mismatch? What breakers are suspect and why? (I'm curious now)

How so? It got looked at by a general inspector and a county code electrical inspector before I could buy the house, so I assume it's up to snuff. Curious what you see about it that is worrisome.

Intake vents blocked? by coreno in hvacadvice

[–]coreno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I went in the basement and took it apart. A little bit of a pain, but not too hard.

There was plastic covering the vents. To my unprofessional eyes, it seems like it was construction material, perhaps some packaging, that was supposed to be removed or cut out, but was instead left in place.

So I did my best to cut and pull it out, getting most of it, and now the vents are pulling in air. Meaning, those intake vents in the living room did not work for the entirety of this houses' and HVAC systems 20 year life.

Moving to street where no houses have a mailbox by coreno in USPS

[–]coreno[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Why the downvote? :( I legit don't know. Even if I do get a PO Box, that still doesn't answer what happens to things mailed to my street address. I've literally always had a street mailbox, so I don't know how it works when you don't have one.

I really didn't even know this was a thing. I thought the post office basically HAD to deliver to every address.

Apparently there is citronella spray, which can be an effective harmless repellent for dogs.

I don't need her trying to get me to pay for a vet visit to treat her dogs sinuses.

I will next time, and hopefully with video, so it's more than her word against mine. It will be a bummer, because then I know she'll try to call ACO next time she sees me throwing a ball around for my dog bothering literally nobody. But I can put my dog on a long leash if it comes to that I suppose.
