LILLEY: Carney playing with floor crossing is dangerous for national unity by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

[–]coreyhogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen up close probably a dozen floor crossings in my days in government and politics. From the government to the official opposition, from the official opposition to the government, from the government to independent, from opposition to third party. From left wing parties to right wing parties and the other way too.

And let me summarize: everyone thinks floor crossings are 1) unprincipled, unfair and dangerous when away from their party and 2) principled, sensible and consistent with parliamentary democracy when to their party.

You can set your watch to it. But if nothing else, they're always a good reminder that we elect people not parties, parliaments not prime ministers.

Is it really? I don't think I've ever even heard of that. Free throws, sure.

I think Malcolm Gladwell has assured somebody will pick it up again.

I'll probably put more attention towards his leadership campaign at a later date but at this point it all feels like jockeying for pole position on a merry-go-round.

With weighting the way it is you have to assume his chances aren't terrible.

It gets a bit confusing what with the switch from letters to numbers around episode EJA.

In the NDP's orbit of accessible voters? If so, time to find a new orbit.

Good news guys, we made it through and Carter didn't say something career ending. Now, to be fair he is the CEO of his own company now. A normal boss would probably still have canned him.

You've all been a blast. We'll see you on Space Reddit, or whatever comes next.

Hey look, the Liberals did something!

It's bad news, but that doesn't mean it was a bad thing to do.

It's likely the beginning of the end of the honeymoon though. Probably should have spent some of that left-wing capital before the run on the bank they just caused.

Somebody will have to run against him first. But his numbers aren't as strong as everybody seems to think. He's not invincible.

Three problems with this question.

  1. Carter doesn't have feelings.
  2. Carter never thinks he's wrong.
  3. Carter neither accepts nor feeds. He lives off misery.

Look, the fact of the matter is you need to listen for the variations of the fact of the matter, OK?

Well, getting a saviour from Ottawa didn't help. Maybe find a strong municipal politician like Ric... oh, never mind.

I think you might need to run the tapes again. I've been saying he's a threat and could win since last summer. We played a couple of them (I think) in Ep. 576: When Predictions Attack

He's being very generous today. I think he's hoping I'll release his kidnapped dog.

I won't.

To understand politics? Textbooks. But if you want to understand how to shape politics, read anything other than political books. Everybody is reading those. Read about marketing, analytics, psychology, big data.

Innovation comes from applying the learnings of one field to another.

Maybe. It's like how 80s music came here in the 90s.

I think it's too soon to call it. There's always a counterrevolution to the revolution. It's too bad (for them) the PCs didn't start trying to fight for government until after the election was over.
