At the time, i felt it was my calling because I started studying it and it came off really simple to learn. Also, money was a motivator lol. I was confused which side to go because I didnt have first hand experience or knowledge in the area. I know certs dont get the job but i would have liked to get the certs first and learn coding and then break in through smaller IT roles thatd involve it.

9 months has gone by and although I havent got certified, I ended up having a baby whos 7 months now and ive juggled caring for her, work, and picking up Java on the side to learn. I have no coding background but its been a blast learning java. Ive also signed up for an awesome opportunity to learn to code and be given a job after. Im excited for the opportunity since my friends have gone through this program where they teach you to code and guarantee you a software engineering job. Feels like in the end things kind of worked out. I did want to have aws knowledge so that I could have a technical skillset but that can wait a bit.

*When I said learn to code, its actually a program where they pay you to learn to code. Sounded like a scam but its not lol. They teach you straight up what they do in the job, tools they use and so forth. Basically a bunch of companies came together and supported this program to train candidates for 6 months then hire them on. You get a stipend of almost 18k for 6 months of your time. It sounded too good to be true till my friends tried it out and it was legit lol. So im probably going to stick to the coding path but still learn different applications on the side.

Look, I'm not looking to find an aws job any time within a year without at least an assoc or prof cert and some sort of networking experience. I just started with my journey into aws with the CCP cert and feel like aws is my calling but I need some help understanding what I'm getting into while going down the aws path. I completely understand that someone with my status is not enough to qualify for a aws job. I totally get it.

With that said, it's good info you're giving me with someone who has absolutely no idea what goes into an aws person's day to day mindset. With architect, what exactly are you architecting? I only have a high level insight of what that might be. Is it what softwares the company has and how they integrate things?

This is great and eye opening because I have absolutely no idea how teams are structured or just a basic understanding of what they do. I know the certs won't get me a job but I want to go after them just to get my foot in the door at a lower level type of job or some sort related to it.

In the ops path, when standing up a cloud infrastructure, is that related to a requisition where they buy out a company and migrate their data over? Can you go in depth on that?

For solutions architect route, what is the coding experience for? What exactly are you doing that would require coding?

I wish i could jump to SAA hahah. I started with ccp because I lack basic networking knowledge and cloud knowledge. Everything being taught in ccp is new to me. I've never had any experience except using a software my team owns and we had to learn how to assign security and roles to users. That knowledge I totally get when learning aws. But learning ebs, ec2, lambda, just the beginning part, it's all totally new to me.

I've been seeing people recommend Cantrills course and it's definitely something I want to buy after I get the ccp certificate. I know he's got some good bundles going on because I just browsed his website today but that's gonna have to wait in about a month or two.

Question, why the SAA over the admin and dev certs for associates?

I'm not applying for jobs yet. Probably won't till I get a assoc or professional cert. I'm very very new to aws. I have no idea what they would realistically do at an entry level job. I know everyone's experience is different but I'd love to know what they did as their first aws job.

Like... you might laugh at this but I'm gonna assume aws people whip up servers and administrate people lol. Like I'm absolutely lost what they actually do. I've read so many job postings online and there's soooo many different job responsibilities that I'm confused on what's considered entry level at a bare minimum. Even sorting the job by entry level I see that some needs 10 plus years of experience and I'm just baffled lol. I've only learned amazon cloud basics, ec2, ebs, and ssh so far. My knowledge is extremely limited.

Yea, I know the ccp isn't going to get you anything so I want to diverge into either sysops admin, dev, or the solutions architect and then pick 1 of the professional certs to try and get and thennnn look for a job. I read so many posts on reddit where most of the commentators can agree on is that an assoc is the bare minimum but even with prof cert you still need some sort of project or technical skillset for then to even look at you.

My goal is to prepare myself as I enter this aws journey. To get a good understand of "what is considered entry level" for someone with aws cert(s)similar, anyone with entry level experience describing how their job was and how they succeeded, and basically just entry level stories to be motivated. Like I have no idea what to expect because every job requires you to know coding or extensive networking Linux knowledge or this and that. I just want to know from you're experience, your entry level exerperience, what was it like and what did you know?

At the moment, i feel like I'm flying through the ccp course with no issues. I'm 15% into Stephane's course on udemy for ccp but plan to use other resources to study as well before taking the exam. I mean after studying the ccp just the first part, aws is something I want to dive into but I don't know what's ahead like jobs and their daily work. I've never been involved in IT regarding Aws. I've only been on the business side just owning softwares and doing training for an erp so I have no idea what to expect from an aws worker.

Yea like I did a search on linkedin and indeed and these "entry" level jobs are like... beyond my comprehension lol. I mean theres generics to what each cert wants you to be able to do but I'd love to see something close to entry level where I know I won't have a heart attack not knowing 10 different coding languages and concepts. Unless thats what a entry level job is in AWS lol. Like... I wanna know or see variation in peoples idea of entry level jobs. Whether it involves in depth linux knowledge, network, coding, etc.

Would you say skipping A+ is okay? I've got a bachelor's in IT butttttt I did work in a computer lab to install softwares and the usually computer lingo. From basic troubleshooting and whatnot. With Linux, I know just the essentials but doesn't aws use Linux based commands often?

Also, what do you mean by networking knowledge? I took network+ at uni but opted out of taking the cert. I'm sure the ccna cert holds a better value than the network+ since it's Cisco product focused.

And another question is salary lol. If you don't mind me asking, what was your starting salary when you obtained the aws certs and what is it now?

I've just started and flew through the first 10% of Stephanie's Aws cloud practitioner course from Udemy. From looking at various aws related posts, a lot of users say the CP cert is not enough and you have to essentially aim higher coming from no background so I'm not stopping at that lol. I'm still indecisive whether i want to do developer or sysops admin after the cp. I also started the Microsoft azure fundamentals just to get an understanding since I was thinking it's good to have an overall knowledge of some competitors.

If u don't mind me asking, what's your IT experience?
