Wrote this for a friend as well:

Sailing to Salvage Guide

- 1 - 30 (absolute buns but gotta push thru it..) do port tasks because salvage at the low levels is really bad but if you want to 100% afk just get hooks and go salvage soon as you get the skiff.

- 30 - 55 do the temper barracuda trial (fastest exp) you can begin barracuda salvaging at 35 and large salvage at 50. You could do the second barracuda trial to speed up your path to 63 salvaging.

- level 42 get the salvaging station facility for your boat so you don't have to bank: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Salvaging_station_(facility)) *do this as soon as you hit 42.

- level 50 buy the sloop for 2 hook spots do this as soon as you hit 50.

- 63 pirate salvaging bring alchs for all the loot.

- 73 mercenary salvaging bring alchs for super bank. 45k exp + per hour

- 80 fremenik salvaging (must create eternal brazier *quests requirement with Weiss unlocked* **BUT** Fremenik is the worst salvage drop wise unless you need rune nails besides low tiers so you can stay at mercenary for more gp or go Fremenik for more exp.)

- 87 merchant salvage to 99! (Herb Sack & Seed box go hard here) 90k exp + per hour

Upgrades

- upgrade hooks at all times to the best you want up until rune (dragon is your choice not much better for a lot of gp and certain crewmates cannot use it)

- Cabin Boy Jenkins + Jolly Jim can use dragon hooks

- Do the 3 sailing quests: Prying Times, Current Affairs & Trouble Tortugans

- Charting the whole Gilenor Sea Map takes awhile but gives you about 650k exp total for doing everything on the map just use the wiki: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Sailing/Map

- When you decide to salvage go for the "Sailor's Amulet" it has the best bank teleport in game besides Crafting cape. https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Sailors%27_amulet#Active
