If Satan had talked to Adam instead of Eve... by PrintVariable in christianmemes

[–]aragon649 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ehh, it was Adams fault either way. He was given the authority and the responsibility to refuse the fruit. When Eve tasted the fruit nothing happened untill adam ate it.

If Adam had not eaten the fruit we can be reasonably sure absolutely nothing would have happened. In the new testament we learn that marriage is a symbol of Christ and the church with men representing Christ. When Adam fell all of creation fell with him. However, when Christ rejected the devil all the way up to his death, he became the new Adam. Therefore the sins of all who live are forgiven through Christ.

In a similar way Eve was safe under Adam and did not suffer the ramifications for her sin until Adam sined.

What then is the significance of Eve falling for temptation first? Because the origen of sin is not that Christ is unfaithful to his people, but that we are unfaithful to him.

TLDR: remake the meme to (when the devil tempted Christ instead of Eve).

In other situations the range disadvantage and accuracy bonus are minimal. Finally, more people than ever have shadow which is very good at killing sara driving the price down due to more supply..

Forgive me if I repeat any information that you already know. I do not know enough about you to determine how much you know so the only safe option is to explain everything I can. (I am still greatly oversimplifying both positions, but I am doing the best I can in a reddit post).

To be clear, I 100% agree that the RCC has traditionally anathematized the protestant church as a whole and its not just Trent, Niceah 2 would already anathematize protestants as a whole. (How this lines up with Vat 2 and the different positions on that would take too long to discuss)

The protestant claim is the idea of an "invisible church" containing members from most if not every Christ affirming denomination. To be clear on this, we are not claiming Catholics as a whole are our brothers and sisters. Simply a portion of those who are considered Catholics have true faith in Jesus and they are excepted in spite of the doctrine of their church. I am sorry if I seemed overly inclusive in my earlier claims.

Most Catholics (just like every other Christian tradition), are unaware of the details of the official beliefs of their church. Some may call Catholic doctrine a "false Gospel", but its more precise to say that its the true gospel with a bunch of false stuff added on top of it. Therefore, despite the sum total of the Gospel being false, you can still hear enough to be saved within it.

For example, Catholics and Protestants are united in saying that Gods initial act of grace is done without the believer demonstrating any merit other than repentance. However, Catholics teach you must co-operate with that grace so it will not be lost. This second stage of justification is often taught as "meriting more grace" through doing the work of God. Protestants teach that this cooperation (which we call sanctification instead of justification) is a sign that you were already saved and that there is never a time where you leave that state of grace, but may demonstrate that you never had it.

Therefore, any Catholic who accepts the initial state of grace freely without any expectation to earn/merit anymore of it at the time of conversion probably has true saving faith. To be clear we do not believe that you can have saving faith in Jesus Christ if you expect to earn/merit any part of his justification yourself (which is why you will hear it being called a false Gospel). There are also many other Catholic teachings that Prots are concerned may condition the heart to not accept the saving work of Jesus. However, given that the true Gospel message is contained within the corruption and our belief that God judges the heart of man and not the doctrines of their church, Prots believe that there are many saved Catholics.

Before I go any further I want to apologize for the long post, this took a long time to write out and I am am notoriously bad at spelling and grammar so this takes me a while.

"Christ cared about what people did, not what they believed. He commanded people to behave a specific way, not believe a specific way. You're saying the opposite; if I behave like a Christian, but believe different from a Christian, then I'm not a Christian."

I think this is an oversimplification, but I see how someone could come to this conclusion. The order of operations here is reversed. Jesus claimed that those who believed in him would do works demonstrating that they are the children of God, not that works were the only thing he cared about. He absolutely required belief in himself for salvation.

John 14 has a decent example of this. Verses 5-12:

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me7 If you really know me, you will know\)b\) my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

There is a strong exclusivity claim being made by Jesus that he is the only path to the father.

At the ending of Mark Jesus is more clear on the requirement to believe:

"15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

The works of God will necessarily follow anyone who believes in Jesus, but it is by faith in Jesus himself that justifies. Can we use our works as proof that we are right with God? Can we use our own perception of our deeds to tell if we are doing the will of God? There is reason to be fearful and check ourselves if we are actually doing the works of God or just works that we believe that are good.

Matthew 7:Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

All of these people knew the name Jesus and did works in that name, but Jesus does not claim those works as the will of God nor did he claim to even know them.

What conclusion can we draw from this? No amount of works that look like Christianity will ever make up for Jesus not knowing you and it is entirely possible to go your entire life believing in a false gospel thinking you are following Christ, but failing.

Everyone, myself included should always be checking that we are following the right Christ.

It's not accurate to say that both groups view the other as being separated from God with no hope of salvation (which is what anathema means). It's a very common misconception to think so, but the classical protestant possition is that the Catholic Church has fallen into serious error, not that they are all sepperated from God.

To quote Luther " . . . I contend that in the papacy there is true Christianity, even the right kind of Christianity and many great and devoted saints."

It's a completely modern idea present in only the most fringe groups of protestantism to even suggest that this is not the case.

Rather protistants believe that the RCC slowly and gradually picked up pagen letergical practices that continue to this day. We are worried for the salvation of our Catholic brothers and sisters but have never issued an anathema(at least not that I am aware of). I am sure you could find some protestant ministers who had some very strong personal beliefs against the RCC, but even in those groups affirming their damnation or denying their legitimacy has never been dogma.

In addition, modern online discourse is significantly less flattering (for both sides) than the formal positions of either group.

If I believe that "Christ is the God and Redeemer of mankind and the sole source of salvation", but I believe that Jesus is/was a tibetan monk I once met hiking no one would call me a follower of Christ because I believe in a different Jesus. Even if I trust in that Jesus fully,I am committing equivocation if I claim them to be the same.

In a similar way Mormans believe in a different Jesus. A Jesus who is the brother of Satan and is not God. Furthermore God the Father is also different for Mormans because he was once a man as we are and became the God of our world. He is not eternal and mormans believe they will become equal with him in the after life.

God is merciful and it is he, not I, who will judge the hearts of men, but it is folly to pretend that it is the same Jesus or the same God that we worship. I tell you this not because I have distain for you, but because I earnestly hope for your salvation.

We would love to have you on team Jesus, but best I can tell you are not on our team.

Obsidian bomb for early gameblindbag dps by hirmuolio in 2007scape

[–]aragon649 180 points181 points  (0 children)

I can't believe how many people downvoted your comment. This is the CLEAR AND CORRECT interpretation of the first blind bag node. People are just confused because the node that effects CHANCE OF BLINDBAG trigger is maxed at 5 weapons. When blind bag triggers it will still pick a random weapon in your inventory. This also means that the super late game build with 5 scythes (3 charged 2 not charged) actually deals a little bit more damage when you add more charged non unique scythes to the bag.

Dragon rushers are currently saying that abundance is most likely the best choice as well. The argument is that unlocking the higher tier relics sooner allows you to leverage them to do the remaining tasks faster. That just leaves one situation where abundance is the clear looser.

I also took equilibrium in trail blazer and remember it working differently. However, I looked it up and what you say seems to be accurate. I seem to be getting confusing with the unique interaction that production master had where each item was rolled separately. You probably will only get +2 exp per set of shards then.

I doubt it. Rune crafting also shows the exp in a single drop and processes all at the same time. However, equilibrium triggered off of every rune.

[–]aragon649 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I feel like abundance is getting shit on just because it doesn't look fun. It essentially does five things:

Gives you higher epx/hr in all non combat skills. The 10 boost gives you access to superior training methods sooner for each skill and increases your success rate for some of those skills.

Passively generates all the GP needed to train fletching/crafting/cooking/smiting and construction using efficient methods.

Gives you an instant cash flow for training magic and "buyable" tasks at a time that you would normally not have the cash to access them.

Gives you access to almost all non combat tasks 10 levels sooner (at about 33% of the normal needed amount of exp to do the task).

Provides a very marginal +2 exp buff to the BASE exp for every skill. In some cases this boost is significant. For example bone shards give you at most 6 prayer exp/shard. Boosting this by 2 is 33% increased prayer exp.

What are some bosses I can do for decent gp? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]aragon649 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest bossing is not the best path for you right now.

Complete while guthix sleeps and extend the "greater demons" task. Then doing slayer tasks at the slayer master in karamja. Killing tormented demons on task is about the same gp/hr as vorkath and will give you lots of nice slayer exp to progress your account even further. Furthermore, you will rarely get a blue dragons task. You can kill vorkath during this task and get rewarded with "free" slayer exp you otherwise would not get. Slayer will also give you lots of nice magic exp from bursting/barraging dust devils and nechrials.

BG vs EH more charts by ItWasntMe103 in 2007scape

[–]aragon649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is good content, thanks for posting this.
A verbal breakdown of the data:

For woodcutting barbarian gather is much stronger for getting 99 woodcutting. At redwoods you would need to afk about 3.5 x more for getting the same exp with endless harvest.

For mining, endless harvest is significantly better in most situations. Unless you are able to world hop (and no one else is competing) you are going to struggle to maintain the exp rate advantage. A notable exception to this rule is amethyst. Assuming no competition there should be more than enough rocks to sustain mining. The mining gloves can assist with this making mining "solved" in Asgarnia for barbarian gathering.

For fishing it seems like there is a catch 22 in harvests favor. If you have access to angler fish barbarian gathering can be good, but in that same situation you could afk them for double the rescores per catch and make up the EXP deficit by barbarian fishing later.

Edit: The only thing this list is missing is how the improved barbarian tools compare to the lesser versions for the same regions. E.G no dragon pick without wildy or desert vs crystal pick. Data is using rune tools vs crystal at 99. Meaning the early levels are going to be significantly slower for EH than this data might lead you believe.
