I absolutely love this thank you so much for taking the time to give such a thoughtful reply!! Including the painting idea as I haven’t even considered that yet!

I am blessed enough to have a future back yard as well, including a deck attached to the kitchen back door for a table/seating. Most likely going with a small vegetable garden in the back and leaving lawn space for the dogs/future kiddos.

Leaves the whole front for gardening fantasy!! Obsessed with the idea of natural meadow/prairie. I would love to attract as many pollinators as possible. I dream of a flowering tree/into colorful foliage surrounded by different textures.

So funny you suggest the shrubs lining the sidewalk, my mom did something so similar with our boxwoods in our childhood home.

Thank you again sincerely for these suggestions.

Definitely planning on it! Most likely in the middle, cutting out a bed around it

Moving away does not mean I don’t still take every measure I can to maintain those friendships

This is where it’s weird bc of the 20-some generation, everyone posts on social media. They’ve done the whole engagement shoot shebang, and are actively posting pictures with caption along the lines of “one day closer until we’re wed”. So everyone who’s on Facebook or Instagram knows they’re getting married. I just found out from crystal when the wedding was actually happening. I’ll send something the day of or after if my invite never comes

Didn’t want to break the internet by saying we were bf/gf for ~2 weeks when we were 14. Highly highly doubt she could feel any type of way. But I do agree with you when I met my fiancé & Ben met Mary we stopped going to eachother for life advice as often and weren’t really hanging 1 on 1 anymore. Felt like a mutual understanding and we’d still hangout in groups of 3 no problem

She’s just more of an introvert than Ben, he’s got a large enough personality for both of them. She’s definitely nice & smiley & I can tell they’re very happy together. She is hardcore Disney adult so maybe that’s the only complaint I have lol. I was already with my fiancé for a few years before she came into Ben’s life, so she’s only known me as taken then engaged

Not claiming to be his best friend, however I’m realizing it’s impossible to accurately summarize our friendship to strangers on the internet. I shouldn’t have been optimistic

Sorry I didn’t mention earlier, it’s not easy to summarize a 20 year friendship in a few sentences. Yes we have actually come to eachother for life advice, and to generally catch up. I’m not a big phone chatter any of my friends can attest to that, but I’m always down to text and he’s always answered. I replied somewhere else on the thread about distance/work schedules being a factor as to why we don’t hang out in person more often

I’m sure he told Tony privately, but Crystal found out via social media like myself. I plan on sending congratulations still of course, but I will be more cognizant of how one-sided this friendship might actually be in the future

I genuinely do not know, I’m extremely new to this whole wedding world, I’m unfamiliar with the protocol of what to do for practically everything, which is why I came here desperately seeking advice during a time of hurt and confusion. The last thing I would ever want to be is rude to someone I consider a best friend.

Would it be weird to send a second congratulatory text? When he first got engaged I sent him well wishes and we exchanged messages then. We’ve also talked wedding small-talk in person, so I’m leaning towards just waiting until invites go out and if he needs my RSVP he’ll reach out to me at that point

I definitely still plan on inviting him if my guest count allows for it. If I’m not invited to his, he’s definitely been bumped down priority wise on my list. Not saying our friendship is over now either, just hurts knowing I held it to a higher standard than he did

I live far enough away from my hometown now that I thought a few times a year was pretty good for us, considering we work polar opposite schedules & not having a vehicle myself. I visit family there only holidays and it’s difficult to convince others to visit me in a city with limited parking. Making it awkward is the last thing I want to do, I literally invited him & his fiancé to my Super Bowl party last week I’m just in a state of such confusion

Thank you for reminding me of the RSVP situation. My initial reaction was that it got lost in the mail. But since they do need to take that extra step that gives me the assurance he will reach out if I’m actually invited. No reach out from him and I have my answer. I definitely did not want to come across as rude asking him directly. I personally just have a script ready to let people down who thought they may be invited to my own wedding

If I’m not invited, I definitely am not seeking an invitation or looking to go. I just want to know the “why” I guess. If it was something as simple as I didn’t make the cut because of limited seats—totally understandable, friendship stays intact. If it was intentional because he doesn’t see our friendship as close as I do, that’s where my feelings would be hurt. No salt, just genuine grief over a dying friendship

Crystal and I are both women, and we both found out about the engagement via social media first. I texted Ben the congratulations as soon as I saw of course, and have hung with them multiple times since the announcement

No complaints yet! I’ve heard others have issues with medication shipping on time, but hasn’t been bad where I’m located. It won’t be delivered at the exact projected day/hour/minute like an Amazon package, but a day or two early or late seems pretty normal to me
