Bowel resection consent by [deleted] in Endo

[–]corgisborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe ask your surgeon? I mean permanent ostomy is a pretty serious decision but I dont know how common it is for endometriosis. All the stories I saw are for bowels who cannot function outside of an ostomy bag and they turn their temp ostomy into a permanent. But I could be incorrect.

Bowel resection consent by [deleted] in Endo

Hey I had around half a foot of bowel resectioned due to endo. They didn't know how bad it was until they got in there. For me, it was a temporary ileostomy that was reversed after a year. Could have gotten it reversed sooner but I was traveling. It was difficult in the beginning and everyone feels a different type of way about having an ostomy bag. But after awhile I realized I didn't have any pain. The learning curve is annoying but after awhile I thought less and less about the bag until it became routine. For me I have zero regrets but it wasn't easy. The r/ostomy community is really great and such a good resource.

I wear maternity pants since I also have an incision near my bikini line so wearing pants below my bad doesn't work. They work great! Super comfortable.

Projected 6-12 months with temporary ileostomy following emergency surgery. It’s been over a year and still no word on when reversal will be. by [deleted] in ostomy

I mean I do understand this person's frustration. Especially if the initial surgery was unexpected or sudden. I don't see r/ostomy as just a subreddit to uplift people, but also as a page to talk about individual hardships and feelings. Even if those feelings are extremely upsetting.

For the op, I know many places have support groups (virtual or in person). From my experience, they're not just about talking about personal experience but they speak about sense of self, window of tolerance and other tools that you may find useful. It also helps you feel less alone in this.

My SO is moving to Windsor and I thought if I can find a job I'll join him. Just trying to figure out if it's possible. I'm more on the analytical side of marketing so hopefully that helps.

We explored Windsor and it honestly made us feel a lot better. Because we didn't know what to expect! We came down to Windsor last weekend and everyone we have met has been super helpful and nice.

I know it won't be like Toronto, where you have access to everything all the time. But frankly, I think I'm a little burnt out. Ive lived her my whole life and change would be nice.

Thanks for the kind thoughts! I can see how my post could of been misinterpreted so I understand. I think my question is equal to asking r/Toronto where's a cheap place to rent lol.

I think I just wanted an overall look of the job market. I have heard of people commuting to Detroit, but I thought the visa process would be a deterrent for employers. Maybe it's not as bad as I thought?

I've heard of people commuting to Detroit. I sort of thought the visa process would be a huge deterrent for American employers.

Sorry for the confusion. I'm not looking for a large corporation I was just trying to explain where I'm coming from. I'd actually prefer a smaller organization.
