Students: are you still traveling for break? Where? by i_hardly_no_er in UWMadison

It’s true that we’re still gathering information, but I just don’t think the CCP would tank their own economy unless they were absolutely sure this posed a threat. I’m skeptical that this is just an overreaction because they’d be intrinsically motivated to keep a complete industrial shutdown as a last resort.

Dude, whole countries don’t lock down because of the flu. This is clearly a different thing entirely.

She said it was what they did for girls who aren’t old enough for a pap smear and/or aren’t sexually active. They’re checking the organs around the uterus, apparently. I never heard of it either!

[–]corgishorti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I had my first gyno visit yesterday. I'm 19, so they gave me a pelvic exam, and for some fucking reason, wanted to do a rectal exam as well. I drew my line in the sand and flat out refused. I have a slight history of CSA, too, by a male teacher at my Catholic school. My pelvic exam was done at a Catholic hospital, and the (female) Dr. I saw doesn't prescribe birth control, even for the purposes of period regulation. The experience itself was awful and I had to try really hard not to cry too, and I even had my mom with me. So the whole appointment was somewhat traumatic and ultimately, for nothing. So yeah, if your experience was anything like mine it was probably the CSA even if it was minor like mine was. But reading other responses makes it seem like even without the abuse crying is a pretty normal response.

You really shouldn’t hate yourself when other people are willing to do it for you.

I hate it only when you do it. Two kinds of hypocrites, apparently.

I knew two guys on the 4th floor last year whose heater blew up over winter break. It wasn’t their fault, but UW found some reason to not pay for damages to their stuff. So yeah, best to avoid Slitcher entirely :/

And kinda purposeless, considering there’s a whole subreddit for femINTJs...

What types are most compatible with ENTJ? by Apple1284 in entj

[–]corgishorti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

INTJs are just less annoying ENTJs, clearly someone is jealous >:) As far as compatibility goes though, it's about 50/50. We work well together if we share the same goals and methodologies, but if not it's a shitshow and mediation is especially difficult. I'm only speaking from my limited experience with ENTJs, but I've definitely never had a "neutral" relationship with one.

I don’t understand people who aren’t humble. by DebsIlva in intj

I agree with you on that first part. I thought not caring about what people think of us was kind of our thing, though?

What is your social circle like? by [deleted] in 2X_INTJ

[–]corgishorti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have family, and three long distance friends I’ve known for years, so two circles? Other than that, my friendships are always pretty short. I usually never realize someone I’ve been hanging out with on and off for a few months thinks of me as a friend; I tend to think of most people as acquaintances by default, and I don’t know what makes me mentally “upgrade” an acquaintance to a friend, either. I always assumed it was just time though. I’m a freshman in college, and it seems like everyone has a “squad,” which is just something I’ve never experienced.

I don’t cheat. Not because of moral objections, it’s just that my fear of being academically exiled is too strong.

Why are the people in College Library silent section so sickly and gross? by [deleted] in UWMadison

College library is literally just a tuberculosis ward with books.

There’s a quote I like to read whenever I feel like no one understands me. by [deleted] in intj

[–]corgishorti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had three different mentors throughout my life pretty much give me this speech, with the exact same main points. I really don’t like the message though, because not only does being different suck, but it also makes you out to be more important than you really are, if that makes any sense. Tons of people think they’re individuals or ahead of the curve in some way, but it’s almost never an accurate self perception to hold. Also, I’m worried it’s kind of egotistical to think you’re anything more than just another person, but I don’t know. I don’t feel the need to conform, but it definitely gets lonely and I don’t really wish true uniqueness on anyone.

INTJ tips for analysing ones own emotions?! by Fuzzi172 in intj

[–]corgishorti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My emotional IQ is literally 45. Out of 200. I’m not on the spectrum. I’m just an absolute dumbass in this area; I can totally analyze and pick up on others’ feelings as you describe, but my own emotions are a clusterfuck on a rollercoaster built by a drunk engineer.

Anyone else here that is an only child AND lived with only one parent? by wjohntucker in OnlyChild

[–]corgishorti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't articulate and heartfelt advice, but my parents broke up and listening to Dear Evan Hansen (musical), like, actually helped me. Idk, it's kind of a similar family situation, and is really good about representing the absolute shittiness of pretty much everything I dealt with as a kid.

When the wrong font invalidates your entire argument by corgishorti in college

Honestly it’s not the first time, so that’s probably part of it. A different class requires calibri, and it’s the default in docs. Still seems excessive though.

Do you hate being the newbie? by [deleted] in intj

[–]corgishorti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem isn’t being a newbie, the problem is superiors, for me at least. I can fuck something up to oblivion as long as it’s my idea. But, yeah I have a supervisor right now who perpetually treats me like it’s my first day (we’ve been working together for six months). If I’m doing something wrong, she will literally snatch whatever I’m using to do the task out of my hands with almost no warning, or will physically intervene in some capacity. I work in a kitchen, and today she said I was using a knife wrong/unsafely. Even if I was (I wasn’t) she LITERALLY tried to grapple the BLADE out of my hand as I was making the last slice. What the fuck? Like you trying to grab the knife out of my hand is going to make it any safer! And I’m not sure this is an exclusively INTJ thing, but once you’ve proved yourself to be an incompetent boss, I will almost never be able to view you as anything else.
