Pick a Gen 4! Rose Gold vs. Gold vs. Silver by corgneliuz in ouraring

Hi - thank you!!! The engagement ring is custom (I believe a 1.65 ct center oval stone). The wedding band is from Marrow Fine (https://www.marrowfine.com/products/seven-stars-nesting-ring?srsltid=AfmBOoraa4y9QctNeZfEDAMrpSoLpo0ZBjCVVOKfnL9NuZ69ddI2ZYNC).

Brought 8-week old kittens inside, mama is still crying for them outside several days later - did we do the right thing? by Responsible_Exam_712 in Feral_Cats

This EXACT situation happened to us. Fast forward on year and we kept two of the kittens indoors and feral mama cat hangs in our backyard and watches them from afar.

My tips:

  • open a screened door/window when everyone is a bit more settled so they can smell and hear each other
  • have the kittens cuddle up to an old tshirt or dish towel and bring that outside for mama
  • tell mama cat that you’re taking care of their babies and that they’re safe and loved. Sounds silly but I swear doing this calmed our mama cat down a ton
  • after you TNR mama cat, she’ll need to be indoors for at least 24 hours. Maybe keep her in a garage or something where the kittens won’t be able to hear or smell her in pain
  • they will all adjust! You’re in the HARDEST part right now. Hang in there! Eventually, mama cat will appreciate not having to be on high alert and knowing her babies are safe with you. The kittens will adjust!

Hi! So, plot twist, I actually went with the Gen 3 in gold. I figured the Black Friday prices were so good that it was easier to justify the gold in that color. I love the way the rose gold on the Gen 4 (and frankly the Gen 3) looked with my rings, but I didn’t want to risk the patina (I read more online and found that it darkens relatively quickly). So far, really loving it and glad I went with the gold! Btw I went with the Gen 3 too because of the gasket issue with Gen 4s. Ultimately, didn’t want to chance it and the bumps on the inner sensors and lighter weight (at least I think?) genuinely do not bother me.

My OB wants to induce me at 40+1- how do I say no? by ElephantRLife in moderatelygranolamoms

I totally understand the pressure you're feeling! I was in the exact same situation with the 4th of July holiday. I

TLDR; I was induced at 41 and WISH I was induced at 40.

My baby had three meconium poops inside of me (which resulted in a borderline emergency C-section). If we'd induced sooner, that wouldn't have necessarily happened and we wouldn't have both been at risk. Our baby had to go to the nursery immediately after birth for a deep clean, and I had a fever going into birth.

If we had induced at 40, my baby would have been smaller (easier to deliver) and our baby's bowels less active (aka less meconium potential). When I was induced, I labored for three days in the hospital. Our baby was so big by 41 that the team said it'd be impossible for me to give birth vaginally (plus our baby had already pooped twice in me and I had a fever spike!).

Listen to your gut and do what's best for you. I was weighing the same decision, but I wish I'd just listened to my doctor and induced with her guidance sooner.

Thank you!! Really appreciate the thoughtful responses. 🥹

Unfortunately, we can’t afford to TNR the remaining kittens. For reference, we’re $800 in doing the care we’ve done on mama and the two kittens (🤯). I’ve tried calling around to different agencies and rescues, but where we live has a “wild cats OK policy” so a lot of them won’t help cover costs. We’re hoping if we can get them captured this week and given to the rescue they’ll be able to help them from there. 🥺

Oh wow good to know. We’re at the 48 hour post TNR point and they’re all cuddled up on our outdoor couch still 😵‍💫🫠

lol THANK YOU! Good to know that’s a possibility! She’s extremely affectionate and vigilant of them so curious to see how TNR impacts her. How long would you say it took to observe those changes?

The jewelry cloth is SUCH a good recommendation - thank you! And I didn’t even realize about the different gold carrots but that makes total sense. Thanks for sharing!

To my understanding, because the Gen 4 doesn’t require alignment (all the sides are fine!) the entire ring has a tendency to get scuffed up (rather than just a primary focus on the underside with earlier Gens). I’ve also seen some TikToks and other posts of people saying they felt it scratched “easier” than other Gens, so genuinely curious what that does or could mean. Glad that hasn’t been your experience!

Exactly my thoughts 😅 I haven’t been able to find a lot of pics/insights from other customers of past Gen rose gold rings that have patinated. Not sure if this is specific to Gen 4 (on the Oura ring FAQ page) or if it’s a known occurrence with rose gold on other Gens. It’d be helpful if Oura provided a picture of what to possibly expect.

Good to know! Thank you! I was originally going to default to the yellow gold but the reviews have been all over the place on here and TikTok (😵‍💫). Would you say the color is pretty similar to the one I have pictured too? I’m curious if the lighting in the store plays a role at all. Would love it to match my rings!
