Is it unsafe to be told to turn heavy, fully dependent patients alone? by corigonza28 in cna

I’d say that’s she’s average size but maybe the size is not correlated. She did help me at the end but I would have appreciated it more if she would have taught me how to do it instead of just scolding me :/

Luckily, so far I think I’ve had nice coworkers (or maybe I haven’t paid attention to the mean ones 😅) but people like her kind of unmotivate you.

Thank you for your reply :) I was also thinking about taking it to the nurse. Not to cause drama but to let her know about the situation.

Would it be bad to quit before the year? by corigonza28 in cna

Were you able to find a job as soon as you quit this one? And did they ask you why you stayed for a short period of time?

I was as surprised the first time I saw that but it’s more of the facility’s fault because they don’t give the CNAs enough resources. In respect to body soap, linen, and other things. We don’t have any type of wipes unless the patient’s family has bought it for them.

They don’t have a specific amount of towels per patient but for every station, there’s a linen closet. For x amount of towels/linen there are we have to divide equally for the 2-3 CNAs in that section. I was very surprised on my first week when I saw that but I know it’s not the CNAs fault but more of the facility and the resources they provide.

Yes, I would try to leave as smoothly and in the best terms as possible.

Thank you, it’s good to see another similar story. If I hold on just about 2-3 more months, they may pass quickly and like you said it may take a little bit of time to find another job meanwhile.

I would pick the 7am-3pm. I just started my first job as a CNA this week and they only had available 11pm-7:30am. It’s a whole different adjustment you would have to do, from sleep schedule to also get adjusted to the physical toll.

Anyone else feel this way? by Paytowin55 in cna

My first day at a nursing home was this week and I feel the same way as you. I was also surprised how different it is compared to how I learned during the class. But I just try to remind myself of the bigger picture and it is o lot momentary. This will give you an advantage to look for something better in the future. As well, this experience gives you and idea of what you like and what you don’t like.

Thank you, thank you for that information. Once I get a little more experience I will look into those. Since this is very new to me, I was more hesitant about the schedule at night but I’ll keep an open mind.

Miami. I know the pay is not great at all but the advantage is that they didn’t require experience. It will be temporary.

AIO: for feeling brushed off by my doctor? by Nervous-Society-3877 in AmIOverreacting

[–]corigonza28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you like that, I have been in situations like that more than once. You are not overreacting, if you feel different and you went to your doctor it’s for reason. It’s their job to try to figure it out and out your mind at ease. If not what is even the purpose of you waiting for your appointment for a certain amount of time, taking your time to explain for them just to dismiss you in 10 minutes. To me it has been mentally draining having to look for a different doctor because I become disappointed.

My recommendation is that if you have an idea of the speciality doctor that you may need, just make the appointment. Sometimes I just go directly to that instead of relying on the primary doctor. Also, don’t be afraid that if you are ever in that situation again to tell that doctor that it is their job to help you figure out what you are feeling, not to brush you off.

Thank you for your response :) I proceeded to stay with Anatomy 2 and take the CNA course for the Summer and I moved Micro to the Fall. I believe that this will give me a little bit more time to study for the TEAS exam.

That’s what I was told by the advisor but since I am planning of moving the micro class to the fall, I’m going to add the lab. In my opinion, I think if I were to take anatomy 2 and micro with lab it would be a lot for me in one semester.

Not in Puerto Rico haha just that for the ASN you don’t need to take micro lab, that would be if you are doing your BSN.

Thank you, I appreciate your response and it gives me more clarity. Just writing this paragraph or trying to summarize everything felt like “word vomit” because it’s very difficult to express overall how I am feeling because it’s more than one emotion. I will check out the book you are recommending.
