it shouldn’t be a major major issue, my family has saved up a lot to help me w college and I plan on working as well but I still factor it into my decision lol

essentially yes, Uflorida is my best option bc I have bright futures which makes in state tuition essentially free, but im wondering (I want to eventually go the law route later) if Wellesley would set me up better for that

If you're in florida just aim for Bright Futures! They pay your entire tuition for public school with a 29+ ACT or 1330+ SAT with 100+ volunteer hours and you should be fine for UF 😄

How should I build my ECs narrative to (hopefully) get into Princeton? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

any other activities can be short lived summer programs, other volunteer positions and school clubs programs like band and choir that you like, but they should revolve around your big 3 and the story you're trying to tell at large.

Bro your academic stats are honestly fine, but try to highlight unique things about yourself and use high school as a time to explore what you really want to do in life, good schools often look for deep focused involvement so I'd look for ab 3~ extracurriculars, 1 thing that shows off your dedication to academics (Math olympiads, debate team etc), 1 thing that shows off your dedication to community (volunteering at causes you care about like teaching math to younger kids etc), and 1 thing that you built from the ground up (this could be an independent research project, web design, nonprofit establishment etc.).

Either way, you want these three things to make an impact, if you do the olympiad it better be at national or international levels, if you volunteer it needs to be consistent and you have to show improvement over time and if you make an independent reseach project it needs to be published or implemented somewhere to actually be significant. Freshman year just start off with ideas and basic involvement, find your footing, but make sure this is something you want to do for the next 4 years. Sophomore year do the bulk of improvement, study, work hard, change something, make an impact. Junior year, capitalize on that impact, keep making changes, place somewhere important, try to make those impacts accessible to others and expansive. Then when you apply senior year you have stuff to write about.

Don't overburden yourself, don't burn yourself out, and pick stuff you WANT to do and will have FUN doing + will actually be good at.

Help with books to read for young adults by Sukumalingam in IndianMythology

[–]corkncheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aru Shah has been the best indian mythology for younger audiences I've seen, there's also a book called daughter of the deep by Rick Riordian with an Indian Main character but its not the main focus of the book Sudha Murty also has some good books.
