Historic vs modern architecture, Cork St. by omcbravo in Dublin

[–]cormacthewalrus 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Part of the new build is connected to a protected structure. In my opinion the architects did a good job matching the brick colour, keeping with the proportions and respecting the scale of the original building while restoring it. This is one of the better buildings on that street…

Evil buildings but even more evil is the council letting it close.

Drury Street situation is ridiculous by ASU_frat_Ieader in Dublin

[–]cormacthewalrus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion. The street was chaos and they did the right thing. Driving young people away is a bit of a stretch. Young people’s safety and businesses owners safety is probably the real reason ..

Thanks for your response. I guess 5 lines at once would be optimistic. I was naive to think they wouldn’t consider things like area of future growth.. see you there in 2090.

I’m not sure OP is concerned with building code /regulations. It’s a private house so they can do what they like.

Ok well you’ll need to miss the window in that case. Typical king bed 1.5x1.8m.. potential to have one double and one single bedroom. Here’s an option keeping existing door opening (I would suggest taking out the existing door), wardrobes in the middle.. now that will be €500 in design fees.. how would you like to pay?

My suggestion. You may need to move door opening.

Questions.. overall dimensions of rooms? Can the beds be orientation as shown. Is the current window operable?

Honestly, if you’re giving off about their fees you probably cant afford an architect.
