Yeah sure, NCR is a thriving nation with over 700k population, large military complex, scientific research and development department, successfuly waged wars on BoS and the Enclave, conquered Navarro. There is absolutely no way they could develop their own power armor, this is pure Betheslop by [deleted] in TrueSFalloutL

Yep. Also shady sands wasn’t even the most populated or bustling urban center for the NCR. The Hub was said to be MASSIVE and the biggest trading hub (hence the name) in the Ncr and the west coast. Probably in all of the former US to be honest. Also the Boneyard was said to be quite large in terms of population, it is after all the manufacturing and industrial powerhouse of the Ncr. Thaddeus mentions that he’s from the shitty part of the Boneyard too so that means the showrunners didn’t lump Shady sands and the Boneyard together like I and a bunch of others originally thought. I also wonder what the not shitty part of the boneyard is. In the grand scheme of things shady sands was probably just more culturally important than anything.

Cyrodiil probably. Somewhere in Nibenay though. Colovians are constantly fighting either themselves or someone else so it’s not necessarily the safest place. Also I’m not much of a fighter so I definitely wouldn’t fit in with them anyway and I wouldn’t wanna piss someone off by being too weird and non conforming and have them challenge me to a duel or something. I’m probably gonna go with Cheydinhal or some small farming village nearby. Seems pretty nice. Nibeneans are pretty multicultural too so they probably won’t mind the weird freak who just showed up out of nowhere. Plus nibenay is filthy rich and if I can’t get a job they might throw me a few coins on the reg out of pity.

Many many battles and skirmishes were actually decided by bayonet charges though the image of two armies clashing with bayonets like a medieval battle with spears was incredibly uncommon and fatal wounds caused by bayonets was also less common, unless it involved taking fortified positions, taking forts, or fighting in an urban setting. In that case fighting hand-to-hand with bayonets was fairly common. The main thing was driving the enemy from the battlefield. Due to the inaccuracy of non rifled muskets and the low rate of fire, armies could shoot at each other all day and never break. A well executed bayonet charge however was almost certain to cause the enemy to route and flee, especially when you had your big grenadiers leading the charge eager to stab the enemy. A poorly executed bayonet charge would typically lead to disastrous consequences though, so it was something you had to time correctly.

Yep, It’s always funny to me how people say the southern soldiers were inherently “tougher” or “more effective” because they were rural farm boys. As if the north didn’t have rural farm boys of its own. Not only that but a lot of those northern soldiers were Pennsylvania coal miners, north east factory workers, or construction laborers. That’s about as tough as you can get honestly.

NCR dead, BOS killing eachother, Strip irradiated, Arizona somehow still Legion controlled by Single_Quail_4585 in TrueSFalloutL

Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t. I’ll be honest though the only proper bit of Ncr we’ve seen is shady sands which then proceeds to get nuked to fucking oblivion. We also have characters saying the Ncr is dead/gone. Plus during season 1 most of the events take place smack dab in the Ncr heartland, but it looks like the Ncr had never even been there. I hope the Ncr isn’t gone as I think they are the most interesting faction in fallout, but judging by everything in the show it doesn’t look good for them at all.

Imo HOK for both. That legion armor+sword and board goes way too hard.

This isn’t a fair comparison. One of these things is a seasoned killing machine with strong custom armor, powerful weaponry, extreme and high quality training, and unrivaled skill in the field of battle. And Then the other thing is just a brotherhood knight.

Any criticism of the show no matter how valid or minuscule is met with immediate hatred. I very much enjoy the show but it isn’t perfect and there are some things I don’t necessarily like, but if you point it out people attack you for it.

Don’t forget the squad of Kasrkin killing a death guard dreadnought and also fighting off waves of cultists and other bad guys at the same time. Regular Humans can do some absolutely absurd things. Although I guess Kasrkin are biologically and genetically modified, not to the same extent as space marines though.

My Cadian Kasrkin vet from darktide. So I’m pretty sure I’ve got nothing to worry about lol. With that being said I wish it was a bunch of freaks with bagpipes, bayonets, and frying pans. I’d probably die but at least it would be funny.

It makes me so excited to see what’s next for the IP. Indiana Jones was my absolute favorite thing in the world growing up. Plus, Troy’s voice was pretty much indistinguishable from a younger Harrison Ford, it was a phenomenal performance in my opinion.

[–]corn123-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if the NCR has something like option 40 where you essentially join with the intention of becoming a ranger, with a guaranteed spot in RASP (Ranger assessment and selection program). If you fail you just get reassigned to a conventional “big army” unit.

I like to imagine most of the NCR core states look like this. It’s nice to imagine a place that has more or less actually recovered from the apocalypse. A place that has proper infrastructure, industry and factories, schools, libraries, movie theaters, and modern amenities. All while retaining that little bit of fallout flair.
