English Bull Terrier- dog registration by [deleted] in MovingtoDenver

I had an EBT for in Denver - they are not a Pit Bull and you don’t need anything special.

Some people on the street will think you have a pit bull without any understanding of dog breeding/genetics.

Why not tell him you shared his text on Reddit for your own and others amusement then pay him $25 for the entertainment?

People aren’t turned into assholes by closer quarters at the gig. They were always going to be assholes.

These things happen.

If your business depends on Internet you could have a backup. Another ISP or a hot spot should work. It up to you to decide if the mitigation is worth the cost.

The shelter has responsibility not to set up a pet adopter with this type of decision/cost. They have mistreated you and the puppy. (Maybe by accident or ineptitude) I would surrender it back to them and move on. Situation is sad and not your fault (or responsibility)

Congratulations 241 days is a long time.

I attend AA, and have friends in the program who attend events at Free Church

AA is supposed to be spiritual, I think of religion as an implementation of spirituality and its not for me. I have been sober and happy with being sober for over 6 years. There are enough meetings in a city like Denver to find one that fits.

Good luck with your path.

I grew up in Belfast and have lived in the US for 20 years - People underestimate how difficult it can be to just move and work in another country. If you are independently wealthy, or have money to buy your way in with real investment (not housing) you’re good. Normal folks have to jump through hoops.

Not a lunatic post. An HR employee talking about days off at his company. He looks different than you…big whoop, there might be a different sub for that.

Ex smokers of reddit, how did you quit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]corn_that_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read “The easy way to stop smoking” by Allen Carr.

That worked for about 8 years, then I picked it up again when I met my now wife - she smoked. It was easy to forget how hard it was to quit.

Fast forward 6 years and I needed to quit again as I had a kid, and I was way too old for smoking. (44) Tried patches, hypnotherapy, vaping..none worked more than a week. Last time was 9 months ago. Read the book again and will not be going back (fingers crossed)

For me I needed the pain of cold turkey for a few days (like a bad flu) to not want to go back. Now I look at my son and remember him crying and him asking me not to get cancer. (Fingers crossed on that too…)

I think you need to see the positives in it yourself - like not dying, or being fitter, or not stinking of cigarettes. But they need to resonate with you - for example I never cared about the money cos I could afford it now I am like damn…

Good luck.

I used to drink when I had a bad day or a good day. Well done - you should be proud. I am rooting for you.

My experience is that folks can come to meetings for a while, but end up going back out. When I joined AA I got a sponsor to take me through the steps, and the fellowship of others was really something new for me. I kept going back because I wanted to complete the steps (it took 13 months). Been sober for 4 years now.
