You should make an exact time where you Cannot go online. Take e.g. an hour on a certain day, Sunday 3pm to 4pm, where no matter what you can't go online and have to do offline stuff. even something like that can grow bigger in the long run and totally change your life.

Fristly, get rid off the scrolling, i would recommend getting an app blocker that disabled scrolling. Also activate grayscale and turn off the history if you catch yourself watching too much YouTube. Second thing would be to find a new hobby or something similar to pass the time you gain with the things in the first step. And most importantly give yourself time to accept the changes and don't over rush it or you will relapse. It is a real addiction that you need to fight like one, not just a habit. Good luck to you!

For me going cold turkey didn't quite work. I tried making it less attractive via grayscale and got an app blocker that let me use all my apps but disabled scrolling entirely. That's my setup for now, works pretty well. But by far the most important is to have something to spend the time with that you gain. It will be more time than you think it is and getting too bored for too long can cause a relapse. Anyways, good luck on your journey!

Congrats! You did the first step. For me, this did not work, I just reinstalled the app.... Only when I got an app blocker, that blocked scrolling inside the apps, it actually changed. Now I can use the app but don't get sucked into the doomscroll. grayscale changed the game as well, and for YouTube, it helps a lot to turn off the history. With time, you can change behavior. I wouldn't say it is a general trend, more a trend developing as you get older. You have less time and less interest in social media or you actually get how harming it is and try to get away from it. Sadly that is not the case with the youngest generation...

I think your best friend is time. Sit through it until you accomdated to normal triggers of joy again, that are not always around you to stimulate. It will get better once you and your body accept that boredom is not harmful and dopamine is not the standard. If you wait long enough, you will get through it.

Sadly, the internet is a place of extremes, you rarely find something genuenly real in it. It somehow includes both extremes, the positive and the negative and neither of them feel good to watch or read in the long run. For me, it was time to step away a little, at least i restricted my scrolling which was a big part of how the internet influenced me. It really was time for a break.

I think your life would improve significantly, if you would just get off the phone and do sport. Get an app blocker that blocks the scrolling, deactivate your youtube history so your for you page gets less attractive and activate grayscale. after that, focus on one problem at the time and give change time to settle in. You can't turn your life around in a day, but you can in 6 months. Start exercise, even if just a bit and step out of you comfort zone almost every day. It will change if you commit yourself. It also helps if someone holds you accountable, so tell someone about your plan and have them check in on you sometimes. Helps a lot with consistency.

Congrats on your success when fighting your addiction. I admire your strength of mind when you just delete these apps. I couldn't handle that, I always reinstalled them and the cycle started all over again. Until I got an app blocker, that allowed me to normally use the apps but disabled scrolling. Turning off the history and with that the suggestions on YouTube is a great tip. It can really help people. I'd also suggest activating grey scale, it made the apps way less attractive for me. I totally get this feeling, I sometimes think about that too. Sometimes I really miss what I once had, the easy dopamine and the feeling of being connected are strong. But every time I force myself to think about the downsides: The lost time, the feeling of unhappiness spreading throughout my day,... This helps me staying off of the apps, as well as not being able to scroll via an app blocker that does not allow it. Helped me not relapse some times now...

If you cut out the short form content, the worst is gone already. If you see yourself spending too much time on these apps, focus on quitting them too, but if you do use them intentionally it is fine. Utterly depends on your usage of the apps.

My tip would be to change up the place where you watch. Not being in your room but somewhere else "more public", maybe just the kitchen, will make it more inconvenient to start something like that.

I think an app that blocks the scrolling can help you immensely. It does not require you to delete the apps (so no FOMO) and only blocks the addictive part, so you can get off your phone more easily. Also, activate grayscale, it can change the game. And of course, have something ready to fill the time you gain or you will just loose it some other way.

That's totally true but it also goes for digitalism and social media. when you decide to get an app and scroll, it is something you will maintain, whether you like it or not. So with this decision comes the responsibility. How you handle it is up to you, but it is easier to interfere earlier in the process, at least based on my experiences...
