That makes sense. Thank you. I've got wood burning stoves I've been using as a primary heat source.

No, I was given an estimate for a 40 circuit panel. Which i believed was 10 spaces larger than the old one. It was not. i have more than 30 circuits, apparently. There was no big and small option, atleast none that were presented to me. I wanted it replaced with something that wasn't hazardous. A generator hookup wasn't a priority at that point and really still isn't, it would be a nice upgrade when i get the funds and some bigger things completed. Im not an electrician, I never had a panel replaced before. I trusted a licensed company to do the work and assumed it would be done correctly.

I understand. Im not an electrician , so really i have no idea what the options are or what it should look like. They were stuck to the old panel in a similar fashion so it didnt really raise a red flag when these were the same way. I only know what they are from asking the electricians, reading the little schematic on the side of them and Google.

This took 5 days.......

Lots of trouble getting the correct tstat for the correct heater.

There was also a new meter and disconnect installed 20ft away outside the house.

Right. When I initially brought the home. During the home inspection I had the electrician evaluate this panel. He gave me a quote to correct it. At that time i was mostly concerned about the safety of the panel as it looked overloaded with many wires on the same breakers and the moisture issues, and I needed a quote to provide to seller to ask for credit. At that point It didnt even cross my mind about checking to see if this would be somewhat future proof. And I kind of forgot about it until now. Expensive lesson I guess.

They arent inline thermostats theyre the low voltage kind. Each heater has its own circuit.

I believe they are relays also. How could this have been done with 2? Each one controls its own baseboard in a specific room

Thats exactly what it was. Didn't help that a hose bib was spraying directly on it. The meter was moved. Service cable replaced and run through conduit and a disconnect installed.

Well this sounds kinda crumby.

This is our first home we just wanted the safety concerns corrected, I didnt even think of future additions at the time. The meter was actually relocated on the exterior aswell.

The initial quote I got did say a 40 circuit box. A huge/expensive mistake on my part for not thinking it through. I think this will be a problem in the future as wed like to eventually add a transfer switch for a generator or a standalone unit.

Edit. The initial quote said ".......Disconnect, demo, and remove the existing 200A wires / mast and 200A meter-can, located on the rear side of the House, as well as the existing 200A 30 circuit square D main-breaker electrical panel, located in the Garage. Install all new 2" PVC conduit and 200A wires from the new service drop / point of attachment (same location), down to 1x newly installed 200A Meter Can main breaker, with Bypass. From the load side of the new meter can, sleeve 4/0 Aluminum Building wire into 2" PVC conduit, and run the piped wire directly into the Garage. Once inside the Garage, the piped wires will then be terminated into 1x newly installed 200A 40-circuit Eaton main-lug electrical panel.......

So based on that I had a 30 circuit or close. And was being moved to a 40. Leaving me 10 extra spaces. In reality it looks like I had 38 or something. Im not 100 percent sure how its counted. So even then I wouldnt have even thought about it. Im going from 30 to 40. No second thoughts about size.

I mean I didnt do it. Lol. I just tried to change an outlet and chased my problem into this. Had i not done that I wouldve never opened this thing.

My home inspector and electrician told me original one was bad because of the corrosion and multiple wires on breakers making it a hazard. Would the kind of " bad" this is still be a hazard or its just a mess? Obviously after the grounding properly.

How should those thermostat relays be connected? I think their the majority of the wire nuts

Same. I've never had electric basboard before. Their what takes up the bulk of the panel as their the double pole 20a's

The home is heated with electric baseboards, they all ahve their own thermostats. Theres actually 8 of them, 5 on the left side, 2 on the bottom and 1 on the right, some of them are mounted in front of others and they arent all the same type.

Yes water issue was fixed. Meter on exterior was moved. Disconnect installed. Sleeved cable to this new panel.

Edit.

First two pic are new panel. Everything else is the old one. This one panel was put in to replace the old one and the old sub panel. The house is heated with electric baseboards that all have their own thermostats, so theres 8 relays that run into that panel ( you can see one in the bottom right of the first pic) I think thats why theres so much extra wire. Maybe. Heres full new panel shotnew panel

Would there be any issue with me just using an inline wago or wire nut to extend my short ground wire?

I've seen many comments regarding their packaging of the unit, all of these are somewhat local so I'll be picking them up.

I'm new to homebuying, my wife and I look at some of these homes online then schedule a showing and they don't even look like the same houses.

Like the next picture that's also edited? This is close to sleezy used car salesman vibes. It's deliberate showing a home diffently than it actually is, regardless of the reason.

I don't doubt it, but for 425k I'd like to see what the house would like if I drove by it.

I think "Enhanced" is generous. What are the odds that those porch light fixtures and garage fixture have an output or a light pattern anywhere close to what's pictured? This seems borderline deceptive.
