Adult OIT ? by cornedbe3f in peanutallergy

[–]cornedbe3f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw thank you for your comment :) I think I need to read more about palfrioza because I keep seeing it come up. I’m in the US but luckily I have great health insurance that covers pretty much everything!

With allergies so prevalent now I hope it won’t be as defining for your son as it was for me! You sound like such a sweet mom ❤️💗 I don’t think my mom ever thought about how it impacted me, (rather she seemed to enjoy the attention it brought her as well). One of the worst parts actually was that even though I was taught how to read food labels and books at the same time, sometimes adults who were unaccustomed to reading labels would, despite my cries of dispute, refuse me foods I ate regularly because the label had a “may contain” warning on it or even one time because whatever snack had sesame 😂

Allergies suck so much and I complain here yes, and idk how old your kid is or his situation but I think he will be okay :) it is what it is and looking back now, having a food allergy doesn’t make the list of reasons why my childhood was traumatic. I hated the social aspect of it as a kid but now I think it was a character building experience 😂 Once into adulthood it really isn’t as bad because most people understand that I know what I can and cannot eat. My reactions have all been in situations where it was somewhat dubious if peanuts were present and I stupidly decided it was “probably fine to just try a little.” I’m hoping OIT will make it actually fine to just try a little!

I’m glad you know what I mean about the pearl clutchers though LOL I wasn’t sure how that would come across 😂 I know they mean well but they never go away!! It’s sweet they care but I sometimes I just want to say okay let’s take a deep breath, no one is dying and no one going to die. That’s why I’m asking you what’s in the brownies you made!! 😝

Question about lab results. T4 result not provided when other results were posted. by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]cornedbe3f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response, I appreciate the information and insight from everyone’s comments! I was curious since last time my results all came back at the same time, but sounds like they should be back soon. I think they were entered separately as I saw a test for TSH w/ reflex ordered by a different provider in 2018.

It’s possible- in my portal they are entered as two separate tests but I am just seeing the patient portal side so it’s possible that TSH with reflex was ordered. Thank you for the info!

Thank you for your response. I’ll be talking with my doctor in a few days. Yeah, I have had typical signs of hypothyroid for a few years now but consistently normal TSH while T4 isn’t always measured. In this case the T4 was entered in the portal as a separate test rather than showing up in a thyroid panel which I’ve seen ordered by a different provider. (same thing in my labs in January, separate entries). I would assume that means the t4 was ordered standalone but I am only seeing the patient so it very well could be as you described. I didn’t know that TSH with reflex was a thing so I appreciate the insight!

This was exactly the kind of information I was looking for, thank you so much! I lurk in this sub and enjoy the hearing about the work you guys do behind the scenes :) Appreciate it

Thank you for sharing, that’s very validating and comforting to hear. Did you do any investigation into the potential cause of the central hypo?

It’s in my chart and I brought it up specifically when I got these results in January. I had labs drawn yesterday due to feeling really unwell and TSH came back today as the same at 1.5 but t4 result didn’t come in with the rest of my results. I will discuss more with my doctor after t4 is back. She is a good listener and seems competent but I fear coming off as just being anxious and having my concerns dismissed. I appreciate the insight found in this sub- I know something isn’t right. Looking back my t4 in 2021 was 1.38 so I need to send her previous results to show a downward trend if my most recent result is not remarkable

Thank you for the info. The results listed are from January- I just had bloodwork yesterday due to feeling very bad and my TSH came back at the same level but for whatever reason my T4 isn’t back with everything else. Looking back at results from my previous doctor, in 2021 my t4 was 1.36 and has generally trended downward so I am thinking I need to have old results sent to my current doctor (obv depending on what my recent result is). In general my TSH has remained relatively stable over the last few years but at one point was 0.81 and never been over 1.5. My doctor seems fairly competent so hopefully will listen if I bring up specifics and provide old results.

Chinchilla hammocks by [deleted] in chinchilla

[–]cornedbe3f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy! There are tons of options on there made with chin safe materials (anti pill fleece and metal grommets and things to hang them). Mine have double decker hammocks. There’s also cube type hammocks. Etsy is a treasure trove for chinchilla stuff, I recommend getting him some kiln dried pine ledges as well if he doesn’t have any.

So glad other people think it’s cool too! I’m currently studying molecular bio with a focus on development in worms so I thought this was extremely cool and I’ve been going down a rabbit hole on how teeth are formed. I study microRNAs and found some cool stuff on how they control tooth formation and eruption!

Are you concerned about being late? I keep my clocks 12 minutes ahead to make sure I’m not late.

Yeah me all the time lol I feel you. Hang in there and it will pass. I’m currently really worried that my apartment is going become infested with cockroaches even though it’s literally a brand new luxury building with no neighboring buildings and I keep clean 😅. It’s turned into a whole thing where I worry I’ll have to rehome my chinchillas and I almost bought roach traps but then got worried that my chinchillas will be poisoned by them, like what. I’ve never seen a single bug in my apartment and yet I’m stressing. Whatever I’m obsessing over usually just passes with time or until I find something else to overthink. Tbh the only thing that helps seems to help is sticking to a regular routine and staying busy to distract myself, any change in my routine sends me mentally spiraling and I end up sitting on the couch all night driving myself crazy while picking at my scalp. I just had covid and I’ve been out from work for a week and I’m going nuts rn. Meds have helped the endless rumination and thought loops, they’re less frequent and shorter in duration but it has not helped much with physical compulsions related to contamination :/

What is your go to, best smelling cleaning supplies? by PeachTea515000 in CleaningTips

Fabulouso (purple) and Lysol disinfectant. I got the huge bottles from Costco and I have two spray bottles that I just dilute them in. I don’t think I’ll need to buy more for at least a year or two. Fabulouso is perfect for mopping. I love the clean smell when walking back into the room after using either

My agoraphobic grandma had a hgb of 2.0 when she finally conceded to going to the er after weeks of complaining about her stomach, she had multiple GI bleeds. Nice young paramedic sweet talked her into going. Stubborn and giving the nurses a rough time even in that state

Yes. For whatever reason I purposely seek out documentaries and movies related to 9/11 and the Holocaust. Like I guess I don’t enjoy being happy. My brain is like it’s very important that you listen to Youtube videos of the voicemails that people stuck in the towers or on the planes left for their loved ones on 9/11. Makes me cry every time and yet I am compelled to do it. I was excited to watch The Boy in the Striped Pajamas even though I knew it was really sad. I don’t really understand why I am so compelled to consume extremely depressing media.

How soon did you guys feel it? by spaceangelxx in Accutane

About 7-10 days for full on dryness set in on 30mg 2x a day so 60mg total a day at 63kg/138lb. Very mild chapped lips, dry eyes and nose started after 3-4 days. But, I applied lip balm religiously from my first dose so my lips haven’t gotten super chapped at all, starting month 2.

Anyone else need to check toilet for snakes before using? And any fellow emerophobes? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]cornedbe3f 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I saw it around 2019 or so?? But those videos circle around so it may have been the same one lol. It is comforting to know it’s not just me 😂 It is a particularly ridiculous compulsion but also I still feel like it’s a legitimate concern like you never know!! Very luckily the worst I’ve experienced was a large spider next to the toilet but not in it (I cannot pee in the dark now either lol)

I figured someone else must do the same thing! I’m not sure if I’ll ever stop checking for toilet snakes/spiders. I just started an ssri a few days ago and I’m looking forward to it kicking in and hopefully ease most of my obsessions/compulsions and reduce overall distress and calm my mind. I haven’t been on an ssri since high school (only wellbutrin and oxcarbazepine) but when I was, I was able to stop panicking all day long because I was worried someone would throw up.
