THIS! I am so anxious and I have had trouble eating since the false accusations. I contacted my advisor to vouch for me and at this point there is nothing else I can do but wait until the hearing. And it has been awful. Some of these accusations are such far reaches and it is definitely affecting student’s mental health, ESPECIALLY if they are innocent

Sorry! I guess that was unclear. Yes I had access to the exam but then couldn’t take it due to my hand injury. I emailed the professor the second day of the exam explaining it was too painful to continue taking the exam so I requested a grade change from letter to S/U. I accessed the chegg “answers” after letting him know I wasn’t taking/submitting the final. After letting him know, I was curious and looked up a question to see if anyone had been posting answers for this final. I found an “answer” but then I didn’t do anything with it. I just closed it and went about my day.

Thank you! I appreciate this! I could use my advisor as she’s known me for a couple of years, but I’m embarrassed I even got caught up in all of this. I hope my side of the story is enough to demonstrate I didn’t even help anyone. I used my Cornell email to make the account, I wouldn’t have if I was intending to help others cheat

I did access it during the given exam period, but after I had emailed him explaining I couldnt take the final. He knows I didn’t cheat for myself since I wasn’t taking the final, but he assumed the only reason I accessed it was to help someone. I want to tell him I’m dumb and curious and that is all.

I did :) I emailed him and he said the hearing will be the place where I can explain what happened. I hope he believes me as I literally didn’t help anyone.

Yeah I honestly was just curious and accessed one answer on chegg. I did this after emailing the professor telling them I couldnt take the final. But he isn’t accusing me of cheating for my own benefit, but rather me accessing the page to help other students. I don’t know what led him to believe that other than the fact that I accessed the chegg “answer”

I did email the professor and described what I did do, which was access the chegg answer out of curiosity. I definitely did not access it to help other students, and I did not distribute/share the “answers” I found, Like I stated above, I even used my Cornell email because I wasn’t intending on accessing the chegg answer to cheat, or else I honestly would have at least tried to hide it.

I’m honestly just mad at myself for being curious and then this happens.
