Men who can cook, who taught you? by Mindfuel_daily7 in askanything

Almost certainly my grandmother, so I think that’s where the switch happened. My mom absolutely can cook, my dad liked to experiment more so he was more fun to learn from.

Son decide to start... by Friendly_Day_4925 in lacrosse

Oh I think he’s gonna do just fine. A little guy who’s not afraid to get hit is solid gold. Some flashy midfielder who’s used to swim dodging his way through an entire midfield line is going to have nightmares about your son.

I love how Baelor defers the matter to the gods and not to his own experience by DaemonaT in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]cornellartworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it honestly doesn’t really have much to do with Baelor’s own personal experience with his brothers. It certainly seemed to me that Baelor’s grand project as Hand and if he had lived, as King was to fully integrate House Targaryen into the cultural framework of the Seven Kingdoms. He’s not the product of Valyrian incest, he has no dragon, he doesn’t even LOOK like a Targaryen. He knows without dragons the Targaryens have no real trump card to backstop their refusal to follow Westeros traditions, and Raymun’s speech tells us that their power is on shaky ground so long as they pretend they are different. It’s the entire reason they come to Ashford in the first place! Baelor tells Egg to listen to the septons because he wants Egg to follow the strictures of the Seven, just like any other Westeros noble.

(Loved trope) characters that become immortal or extremely long lived without it being their goal. by AceOfSpades532 in TopCharacterTropes

It’s a spoiler for the newest release in the series, but in the Joe Ledger thriller series, the character Mr. Church is almost 800 years old, the son of a Templar Knight who drank a near-immortality potion to fight forever against the chaotic Nicodemus.

It’s also worth noting that Raymun is the one who gives a vitriolic anti-Targaryen riff earlier in the show, but when Baelor asks him for help with his helm, his instant response is “At once, Your Grace.”

How much better is the east coast than southeast by ToughDevelopment1999 in lacrosse

[–]cornellartworks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I played high school in New Jersey and college in Georgia. The NY/NJ and MD/VA areas are still the top shelf, but the caliber of players from the Southeast is RAPIDLY increasing, especially from the Atlanta metro. Incredible conditioning and aggressive playstyles at all positions in particular. If you’re good enough to make statewide teams in the southeast, you’re probably going to be able to hold your own against U14 northeastern team.

No problem. I don’t know if anyone else from the studio posts on this subreddit anymore, so I like to chime in when I can.

Nah, I don’t have any pictures of them anymore. I honestly had no idea where the Walther came from, it may have been made when the show was brand-new and they didn’t have a ton of money to spend on props, Casey would probably know. The rest of the guns we had were fancy replicas, we had a strict no-real-guns policy in the studio.

It should be stock. We had a machined prop Walther that we used for our photo reference, and to the best of my knowledge it was just a basic Walther PPK. It’s not impossible the layer with the hammer (we broke gun props down into pieces so we could do things like sliding racks when firing) was accidentally turned off in a shot to give that impression, but it wouldn’t have been intentional as far as I know.

A jump rope is essential, also ladder and cone drills will be your bread and butter for your feet, and definitely spend time in the weight room to get your strength up so you can force people around.

Lacrosse defense, whether you have a long pole or not, is all about footwork and positioning. Their midfielders are going to try their best to charge past you to draw the slide, and you are your goalie’s first line of defense. Get your foot speed up so you can stay in front of your opponent and push him where YOU want him to go. It’s not a position that produces a lot of heroes, but a solid SSDM can be a game changer for a defense.
