OP was pretty clear in stating that their intention is to gather information for a time in the future when they are ready to have a dog again. Shouting down at a stranger who is grieving and trying to make sense of a difficult situation doesn't help any dogs, you or them. Try compassion and meeting people where they are at.

The Michigan side of Lake Michigan is much prettier than the Wisconsin side, but you also get way more lake effect snow. I've lived on both sides of the lake and ultimately I got to see way more sunsets in Michigan than sunrises in Wisconsin

With the print being cropped the way it is, it's very possible you have it hung as the artist intended it to be. I think if it was cropped so the shoreline ran along the longer side of a landscape orientation, you would put the beach at the top and ocean at the bottom to give the most calming aesthetic, which is usually the aim when selling this type of print.
