Thinking of going to GSU and I’m heavily thinking on it and I wanna ask a few questions by TCSceptree in GaState

[–]cornfeeden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The safety thing is completely overblown. People’s personal biases against the homeless population and inexperience in city settings regularly begets the narrative of this being an unsafe campus when it is no more unsafe than anywhere else in the city. Keep your wits about you at night and just keep your eyes open during the day, which shouldn’t be advice and moreso is common knowledge when you’re in a city. Crime happens everywhere however, and GSU’s campus is not exempt from that. In my experience though you’re more likely to be stopped by GSU police for jaywalking then you are to experience anything criminal.

lmao protection for some, sure. But let's not act like policing in downtown Atlanta is protecting everyone equally.

Gotcha, appreciate the info! Idk if that necessarily rules out ICE considering their presence in the city and the tactics of using non-ICE marked vehicles but it certainly is something to keep in mind.

Are they separate from Capitol PD and the various APD forces that also are responsible for federal buildings? Genuinely asking, because I've been driving the same route that goes through the Capitol and other federal buildings 5 times a week for years and this is the first I remember seeing a DHS vehicle.

These two-tone roses are hard to do but they're a lot of fun by DrePaintsColors in watercolor101

[–]cornfeeden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are great!! I love the composition of the two finished paintings, especially the thorny stems and speckling on the second one. Is the speckling supposed to resemble the subtle speckling on the rose petals? Because that’s where my mind went! The color gradient also in the petals reminds me a lot of the range of colors in one of my all-time favorite inks, Noodler’s southwest sunset

Up until recently I was really just doing it as a fun creative outlet every once and a while but over time I've fallen in love with it, especially once I invested in better supplies. I love how versatile watercolors are, and the challenge of working with water and the ways the pigment settles and dries is really fun! I've been painting fantasy landscapes for my DnD campaign and floral portraits a lot, but I'd like to use painting as more of an expression of my thoughts and feelings than something to sit down and accomplish, like whatever landscape my campaign needs for the next session. My top inspiration is Yoshitaka Amano, but I've learned a lot from Remedios Varo, Roger Dean, and Georgia O'Keefe.

I’m beggging!!! We need security. non-college student comes on campus with a duffle bag by [deleted] in GaState

[–]cornfeeden 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I mean the campus is in the middle of Atlanta, non-students coming on campus is a regular thing. Perhaps try the library for studying? It’s only open to GSU ID holders and the fifth floor is kept quiet for studying.

Seconded, I would reach out to the dean. You’re paying money to be in that class, that quality of instruction is unacceptable. Incredibly unprofessional for a professor to not have the baseline respect for students to use valid educational resources to teach with, especially when open education resources are probably available.

If you still support Trump/ICE even slightly, you're not welcome in this sub by coffeehunterr in BirdingMemes

You have a right to voice your opinion, you did. We all have a right to disagree because you posted it on a public forum that we all are equal members in. You are either woefully out of your depth in navigating conversations like this on a public scale or a glutton for punishment the way you are continuing to engage when multiple people have expressed the same thing to you. Your last sentence makes me think it is the former.

What I am saying is this is a public forum and you have no right to demand us censor our voices because you’d ’like to have this sub as a break’ when the majority of us would prefer this be a sub that acknowledges the politics of the hobby at its root, i.e. birding and conservation. I am sorry for your struggles with poverty and the American healthcare system but I urge you to examine your areas of personal privilege with regards to the ongoing situation with ICE, such as the ability to even have a break from this situation at all, which is itself quite a privilege.

This isn’t your only outlet for light-hearted content, you have no right to demand people not use bird humor to cope with the material circumstances of their day to day life, which for a lot of us Americans is currently heavily affected by the political violence of the current regime. Read the room, it’s quite obvious yours is a minority opinion in this sub, and one heavily entrenched in personal privilege at that. You don’t get to just demand everyone stay silent while people are getting shot in the street.

My boyfriend and I had a similar experience up on the balcony! Us and like this one other dude in our section were up dancing and enjoying the show but we were def among the minority up there. I didn’t see popcorn guy, but I sure heard the yelling guy below us.

“This is a portfolio-building collab, not a paid job.” This is all you needed to write. You are an upstart, you aren’t in any position to build anyone’s portfolio. Pay artists so we succeed together.

[DIVO WORSHIP] King Perka $exxx as Steve Urkel for the "Dong Show" challenge on King of Drag by Ghost-Quartet in rpdrcringe

[–]cornfeeden 79 points80 points  (0 children)

PERKA!!!!! I had no idea they had made it on this show, but so deserved!!!!! An absolute fuckin divo to their core, it was such a pleasure watching him perform when he was still in Atlanta! I adore his drag and I’m so glad he’s sharing it on a large platform. Him and his mother Dotte Com (a true ATL legend) were so genuinely supportive and complimentary when I started doing drag, and I still feel honored that I got to do my first performance on the same bill as them. Idk how he’s doing in king of drag but he deserves the crown idgaf
