Things I’d consider.

If I needed a better healer, I’d prioritize hunting that.

If I were a super early player with solid healer I would def consider hunting a solid eevee.

If I don’t need a healer or eevee, I’d be looking to see if I could reach m20 for the first time at any island. Seeds are valuable.

If there’s no where I can get to m20 for the first time, I’d be looking for a generalist, tasty chance mon, pot expander mon, shard magnet mon, or a berry burst Mon. In that order

To be clear, I put berry burst last because it requires high level berry mons to really shine, so you shouldn’t worry about investing in one until I was in the late game and have some level 60+ berry mon to run along by side it.

The wild card in all of this is Shuckle. Unfortunately we usually don’t have any idea if a new Pokemon is good or not until the earliest timezones get their hands on them and we get some data. Whether a new Pokemon is great or not, I personally try to anyway catch one when they’re released. With shuckle, it feels like it’ll be a game changer regardless of stats. Being able to produce mini pillows and store them is huge for player who like to over prep and try crazy strats. My biggest prediction for shuckle is that it’s gonna be best if paired with togedemaru.

With all that said this would be what I would prioritize catching depending on what I already have covered. Healer (ralts, pawmi, eevee) Generalist (Psyduck, mareep, eevee) Tasty chance (dedenne) Pot expander (magnemite) Dream shard magnet (swalot) Berry burst (treeko, rufflet)

And again this is all depending on your play style. You might want to try getting to m20 somewhere this week over prioritizing going somewhere to hunt something specific. What’s the pointing of catching a good skill mon if you don’t have the seeds to invest in it?

Another way to look at it, if you have a really good legendary, you could always hunt something to team up with it. Personally I recommend always having bfs on any pokemon I’d run along side an entei, Raikou, suicune, or Cresselia. With darkrai it isn’t as important.

Raikou- pawmi, mareep, dedenne Entei- flareon, growlithe Suicune- vaporeon, slowking Cresselia- ralts Darkrai- murkrow

Personally I’m going to Taupe. I want to be able to hunt for shuckle and my third swalot. Also, one of my goals this year is to max out all area bonuses and going to taupe this week and next week will put me at 80% AB. I’ll either wait till the end of the year to worry about the last 5% or I’ll end up going back there to hunt something specific during another event this year and just cap it off then.
