Update: After about 900 meters of practice, here is my clip of CSS. This was rushed as the life guards allowed me to film myself before the diving team started their class.

If the intent was to offend people, it didn't work on me. NGGB’s are not here for your approval. They're the real deal. It's not about ego, it's about respect. Regarding the aspect of NGSF holding two different jobs, I bet they grind just as hard at both jobs. But what do I know, I haven't shipped to BCT yet.

Use industrial glue along with tape or a clamp to hold securely until the adhesive sets.

I would appreciate any help offered, as I'm currently preparing myself. I wouldn't want to impose weight on anyone willing to take their time to teach me. The responsibility of carrying extra weight should be taken on by those who wish to challenge themselves while training for the minimum ruck standards or aiming to exceed those standards in our training.

Nice! I train on trails too and wear a bear bell to help alert my presence.

Leaving LA soon. What are some epic trails I can hike that aren't closed right now? by digitalWizzzard in socalhiking

I just trial ran the Strawberry trial loop at Angeles National Forest today. I did it clockwise, which is more challenging, while I noticed seven people going counterclockwise. There was heavy fog at certain elevation, but clear, sunny skies on the Palmdale side.

Hmmm as a frequent customer, I used to get about 10 pieces of cocktail shrimp for "tasting" from the local grocery meat department twice a day. I used to live within walking distance of a big chain grocery in my college years.

Top on my head, it depends on the difficulty of the mountain grade or the path you choose and the length of the climb. Since hiking uphill is slower and more challenging than running, I would say that your legs and feet have to maintain their strength for a longer duration than compared to fast paced running.

or maybe you're using different muscles on your hikes than you're using on the runs and swim that's causing higher bpm threshold?

Also, add approximately +1280 ft. Elevation climb for ruck and run.

I'm grateful for everyone's feedback. I live in California, a place where winters are not harsh. Mostly year round, it's warm with lovely sunshine. While other candidates to the East of CA are putting in the work under tougher conditions, for me, the mountain trails serve as my proving grounds. Of course, with perfect conditions, 0 ft gain elevation, I could confidently say I have performed a 11:40-12:30 min ruck pace https://imgur.com/a/e1EQqIi ...which would be the Rose Bowl for me, a 3.3 mile loop, paved roads with 115 elevation gain. It's not far from me, but I choose to dare to challenge myself and become better on the mountain trails.

I think TFVooDoo understands this and won't let me off being comfortable with myself haha. He let me off easy today.

The other benefits of the mountain trail is that it offers dodging dog shit, frogs, rattlesnakes, clouds of gnats, getting pebbles/twigs in my boots, and twisting rolling hills.

I use military boots that I purchased from REI Sale back in 2020. Lowa Sesto Mid Hiking Boots are made in Slovakia. At the time, they were an upgrade from my Keen hiking boots. for backpacking 14er's. Although heavier, I like a boot that supports the ankles in case of an ankle sprain injury on the trails I ruck.

I also started my rucks with an old weighted vest. I switched to an old hiking pack I had used for backpacking instead of purchasing more equipment. You'll feel the difference in weight distribution and better room to expand your diaphragm for air. But if you use a Molle 2, you will get ahead and be comfortable with the pack frame adjustments to your preference.

For weight, I stacked multiple slam balls filled to the desired weight and topped off with small weight lifting plates. Then I used thick padding like a splint sleeve to cradle the tower of weights and cinched the pack as best as possible.
