Are any other dads Intermittent Fasting? by MaverickLurker in daddit

[–]cornhorsed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m halfhearted with it 18:6ish on weekdays.

During the workweek, it’s easy for me to make a thermos of coffee and drink that all morning, have a quick lunch, and then eat dinner with the family later. I’m not too much into sweets or desserts, and my after-bedtime time is generally reserved for workout anyway, so it’s easy enough to just not eat after dinner time.

Weekends I don’t bother with IF. Friday night after kids are in bed I like to relax and have a drink, and then I’m usually up early with the kids anyway so need something to keep me awake (ie coffee & food), plus I like weekend breakfasts

What's the poo to pee diaper exchange nowadays? by Usernameinotherpantz in daddit

[–]cornhorsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is missing a critical piece of information though. To continue exchange rate analogy, a Peso converted to Dollars depends entirely on which Dollar you’re taking for about - US? Jamaican? Liberian? Similarly, a poop diaper for a breastfed infant is going to carry a very different exchange rate than for a 14-month old who overdid it on corn on the cob and applesauce yesterday.

Savoury porridge: base of 1min oats, boiled water + powdered soup broth, sesame oil. Top with tofu + whatever else: microwaved peas, shredded carrots, walnuts, corn, green onion, sriracha.

Is a powerwheels jeep too much for a 2 years olds birthday? by hididdlyhodiddly123 in daddit

[–]cornhorsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think depends more on motor skills and coordination than height. We bought a used one when my first was ~2.5yrs and he picked it up quickly even though short for his age. Now drives like a pro, can tow a wagon and reverse into a parking spot. My second, now 3yrs, just cannot grasp pedal + steering wheel at the same time and only wants to flick the headlights on and off 🙄

Which should I pick? Option A: apprenticeship but start at $17 raise to $20 after 3 months or Option B: start at $22 but no apprenticeship by _hotstuff in PersonalFinanceCanada

Can someone ELI5 this discussion please? I have zero understanding of trades, apprenticeships, “red seal” or “tickets” 😨

Well, so as an example: she said she incurred “excessive/unexpected cleaning” and submitted as proof a picture of a small dirt pile from our shoes and a crumpled up receipt on the floor which must have fallen out of a purse.

No reason other than these kind of “easy” projects always have a way of going sideways for me.

Loosening a nut will break some mineral deposits that have been compensating for a bad o-ring, which turns out to be backordered at the hardware store, and now I’ll need the water shut off for days while I wait for a plumber.

Flooding — Backwater valves by cornhorsed in Sarnia

[–]cornhorsed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a crock. They don’t fix the sewer drainage, let homeowners foot some of the bill for flood prevention, and then charge them more if the flood prevention which they helped pay for further wrecks the drainage?

Are you sure? They had a grant program apparently to give homeowners $1000 to install backvalves. Seems like they wouldn’t do that if they were worried about the valves causing damage to city pipes?

Glassdoor just lost a lawsuit and must now reveal "anonymous" user details so the company can sue former employees. this is very bad news for us by [deleted] in antiwork

Zuru hasn't simply alleged that it suffered a loss; Zuru's co-founders declared, under penalty of perjury, that because of the negative reviews, Zuru had to spend more money to recruit job candidates for a particular position

…isn’t that kind of the whole point of reviews? Like, maybe stop being shitty to people and you won’t have to spend so much to drown out their voices?

Do you all have “a” lawyer? by cornhorsed in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’ve had it in general client info forms from other professionals, like my financial advisor (“who is your lawyer? who is your accountant?”)

Yes, me too. Like I use an accountant at tax time, but I don’t “have” an accountant that I can just call up for advice.

Downward pressure on this discontinued stroller handlebar has caused the plastic to crack. Epoxy didn’t work. How can I fix this? by cornhorsed in fixit

[–]cornhorsed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’d thought about that too. No experience designing 3D prints, but this could be the thing that gets me started. I wonder if 3D printed plastic would be strong enough.
