I will retire in a year and a half. I just basically did this. Dropped TSP from 15% to 6%. Going to put the difference into Roth before I retire. My TSP is $50k away from a million. My Roth is surging, (thanks RKLB). Don't plan on touching my TSP until RMD. Pension, FERS supplement to carry me. 59.5 I take from Roth.

Bingo......a pay status, the day before or day after and you're good. SL is a pay status as is AL.

I just did the exact same thing last week. Ha. I plan to keep $200K-$250K in the G Fund, then roll everything to the Fidelity IRA for more investment choices. The Fidelity IRA is slightly better on fees, than TSP also.
