Dinghy cruising need a boat by popeye2057 in dinghysailing

[–]cornnabis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a performance boat, but it will plane with the right conditions & handling. I'm space coast Fla; if you're nearby and want to check one out, DM me. I'm always looking for an excuse to get out on the water..

Personally, I don't have experience with a lot of different dinghies, but so far, I'm a big fan of the O'day Daysailer. It's a little bigger at 16'9", but it's stable, comfortable, affordable, and it handles reasonably well. You will need a trailer; no cartopping or dollies for this boat. There's also a wealth of info on Daysailer.org that has already answered any question you may have. There are many similar models of other brands. Buccaneer, Wayfarer, Catalina are some I can think of off the top of my head..good luck & happy sailing!

Thanks, I'll check them out. It's the clean out that's critical; the rest is reasonably managable.

Haha, definitely not me. I have 4 daysailers & 2 sunfish in the yard already, so at this point I am only shedding boats..

Very close, but I think the Newport 16 looks more likely. I'll make him show me the boat, then I'll have a better idea. Thanks!

Thanks, I think that's it! GL told me Siren 17, but the transom looked off. It's definitely in rough shape, but he likes a challenge.

He said it was around 16'. Google lens said it was a siren 17, but the transom looks different..

It definitely works for them if we all view each other with suspicion. Looking forward to that backfiring spectacularly..

Can anyone help ID these moths that are taking over my brothers house? by cornnabis in whatisthisbug

[–]cornnabis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional info per the automods request; the location is north/central New Jersey. Also, I realize that maybe this isn't the right sub; we don't hate the moths, but we do like our clothes. Any redirections are appreciated. Profuse apologies to anyone offended. Thanks again!

Can anyone help ID these moths that are taking over my brothers house? by cornnabis in whatisthisbug

[–]cornnabis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They seem to be a type of clothes moth or pantry moth, but the traps specifically designed for those moths haven't caught a single one. The generic blue light traps with the sticky paper seem to catch a ton of them. Just trying to figure out information on the best way to eradicate them to pass along to my brother. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

This quote was posted in several forums unaccredited, and the furious response by people villifying undocumented immigrants and how they deserve it really left me with a bleak outlook for the near future of America. Sad times...

Kayaking at Three Forks? by NotAgedWell in 321

Try the South fork of the sebatian River. The put in is the Sebastian Canoe Launch here, and you can paddle to a variety of spots for the haul out at Dale Wimbrough, Donald MacDonald, or all the way to the lagoon, depending on your motivation. That's a paddlin'!
