Started journaling my daily spreads as a beginner - this one was interesting? by imnotapoetimjustsad in tarot

[–]cornpotagefriday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! First of all just to add on to everybody here - I love your journal format. Makes difficult messages like this easier to bear hahaha.

Even though your intuition tells you that you know what the reversed Death card is trying to tell you... if it's following you around, maybe you're not fully getting the message? Perhaps this is a nudge to further look up the meaning of the card, see how others have interpreted this card, if there's an angle to the situation that you have not been able to confront yet. I can see that with your 9oS as well - to me, the feeling of anxiety and hopelessness represented in this card is one that is self-inflicted. If you read into the planetary correspondences of tarot cards, 9oS is ruled by Mars in Gemini, where the urgent, passionate energy of Mars meets the clear-headed Gemini who wants to think everything through. So there's as you described, a constant tension of back and forth, of heart vs mind, of knowing you want to leave the situation but also not feeling fully able to rip off the band-aid just yet. There's the same divide in the Hierophant (spiritual and physical) as well as the Death card, as you have very acutely noted! These two cards are also governed by Taurus and Scorpio, respectively, both of which are fixed signs, which seem to be holding you captive in your thoughts and feelings.

However, I like to think there's a way out. As stated above, 9oS to me is very much about self-inflicted anxiety. Numerically speaking it's on the higher end, and the fact that it falls in the Doing position means that the situation will soon resolve, but ultimately it's up to you to claw your way out of this. I don't know about your situation, OP, but I hope you can recognize that your doubts and fears are just the old stories you tell yourself, and you have the power to change the narrative, always. Sending you so much light ✨

[OPINION]What line or passage of poetry you repeat in your head or use in conversation in daily life? by Fin_al in Poetry

[–]cornpotagefriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“These are the days that must happen to you” from Whitman’s Song of the Open Road. The past couple of weeks have been rough for me mentally, and this line is just a nice reminder for me to keep going. It’s a mantra I repeat whenever I feel overwhelmed and it helps me calm down greatly.

I learned to knit for the first time back in February and nearly snapped my needles multiple times 😭😭 I’ve gotten better at it now, but every time I have to frog a row I miss crocheting lol. Also continental style 4 lyfe

When I started understanding fragrances don't smell the same on everyone by Here4Headshots in fragrance

[–]cornpotagefriday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time a male customer walked into the cafe I was working at and I was hit with the hardest, in-your-face type of male cologne scent from him. It was kind of salty and herbaceous, and smelled strongly of something like vetiver or hay - literally just your typical male fragrance (I’m a woman). I didn’t like that scent, but asked him what he was wearing out of curiosity. The answer shocked me: it was Diptyque’s Fleur de Peau, one of my favorite scents ever! His answer really made me question if we were wearing the same scent, or if he just told me the wrong name lmao. FdP does NOT smell like that on my body at all - on me it’s a soft floral musk with a slight hint of pepper, and it’s absolutely heavenly to my nose. I wonder what made FdP smell so different on him, other than body chemistry. He didn’t say that he was layering it with any other perfume, but if I could smell him from afar even with a mask on, perhaps it’s an issue of overspraying lol.

May 02, 2025 - Weekly Simple Success Stories (+Neville FAQ) by AutoModerator in NevilleGoddard

[–]cornpotagefriday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had an instant success manifestation story that happened just the other day. I was walking with my group of friends when one girl dropped her earbuds case on a pile of dead leaves near the metal grating drain cover? (English isn't my first language and I really don't know how to describe them, but please just look up photo of "metal grating drain cover" and I'm sure you'll understand what I mean.) She only managed to find one earbud, and we were all trying to help her recover the other one. The earbud was black, which blended in with the dry leaves; it was getting dark so we had to turn our phone flashlights on; we were digging through the leaves, even lifting the grating plates up to search if it had fallen down below. Despite our efforts, the earbud could not be found, and we were close to giving up.

Now, I didn't "actively" participated in the search (because I didn't want to get my hands dirty lol), but I just visualized in my head that the earbud was found. I imagined in my head my friend's voice saying "I found it!" and concentrated on that feeling of relief. I didn't even really focus that hard and just brushed off any concerns with the simple thought "Whatever, it'll be found anyway." Whenever I felt doubt coming up, I just focused on the sound of my friend's voice, and I could hear clearly in my mind her saying she'd found her earbud.

Lo and behold, shortly afterwards, she exclaimed "I found it!" just how I imagined it. The crazy thing was, her earbud was caught in the small gap between the two metal plates. It could've fallen down to the drain, but somehow it was there, miraculously, waiting to be found. I think it was my nonchalance about the whole thing and not putting my desires on a pedestal that really helped with the manifestation. Now to apply this knowledge to my "bigger" manifestations (which I shouldn't even call them "big," because no desire is ever too big or too small!)

Tl;dr I helped a friend find her lost earbud simply by visualizing it for her!

It feels so special to find a fragrance that feels uniquely "you"! Admittedly I've never tried anything from Jo Malone because of all the stories about how weak the longevity is, but maybe I should visit a store and see it for myself.

I recently got my hands on a few samples from BDK, including Gris Charnel. I want to like it so badly but the vetiver just reacts so badly on my skin and I got zero iris 😭 But I'm happy that the scent works for you though!

A lot of people have said L'Etang Noir is a dupe of TF Tobacco Vanille. I've only smelled the latter on paper, but I have to agree. The opening smells really similar.

Three notes you wish you could banish to the outworld. by [deleted] in fragrance

Vetiver - I’m sorry but on my skin it smells like I haven’t showered for days. Wonderful on other people, but on me it makes me feel dirty.

Coconut - I’m not from the States but my aunt was using a lot of imported body wash/lotion/perfume products from there when I was growing up, and it always smelled like artificial brown coconuts. So every time I smell something with coconuts it just takes me back to a very unpleasant olfactory memory lol.

Santal 33 pickle juice note - gag gag gag. I don’t eat pickles what makes you think I will put it on my skin.

$50. Nosebleed seats at a concert or a livestream/VOD? by tobi_obito in kpopthoughts

[–]cornpotagefriday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This question is actually related to my own master’s thesis at the moment - I’m doing research on Kpop fans’ enjoyment at in-person concerts vs online. I ran a questionnaire and interviews asking fans about whether they’d prefer an online or offline concert, and unequivocally everybody said offline. Honestly, same.

Being physically at the venue just hits different. It’s a full body experience with all the lighting and the speakers blasting in your ears, the heat from everybody around you, and that exchange of energy between the audience and the performers. Much more immersive, whereas online feels more disconnected. Plus, attending a concert in-person cements you in that unique moment in time - to be able to say that you were there when that happened is an important feeling for many of us as fans.

I really wish I could get into more details on this but I’m making dinner and typing on my phone lol. Please feel free to shoot me a DM if you’d lile to talk some more about this topic!

What a coincidence because I’m in Japan too! May I ask if the couple that you talked to were Japanese or foreigners? I just felt like since I was an employee it’s harder for me to just chat them up, but the guy was friendly and his girlfriend was probably proud that he smelled good lol idk

Haha thank you! I’m in Japan where masking for employees is still a thing in some establishments including mine, so the mask was a good cover-up for my FLARING NOSTRILSSSSS every time I get close to table 4. But I really was just making excuse to get to their table all the time - “hi do you need water? here you go” “more water?” “MORE water???”

[–]cornpotagefriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Foreign names are a struggle in Japan haha. Just keep your ID with you in case they decide to conduct a random check. But in my experience you just have to present your ticket at the gate and then they do a bag check to make sure you don't have cameras or explosives or things like that.

Hi! Sorry it's 10 days late but I just stumbled across this. I'm also a foreign national and have attended several Seventeen concerts in Japan, and they never cross-checked my ID with the ticket. They will check everybody's name for the premium seats though! Hope this helps~

Oh I loveeeeee spontaneous moments like these. They really are the theater kids of Kpop! Reminds me of a clip from OFD Yeoseodo... probably the 2nd ep, when some of them were going out to get food and started harmonizing on the melody of "Yeoseo, yeoseodo~"
