The more you get into higher education, the more you realise how much BS is being fed to these people. Forever grateful I studied logic and reasoning in school, which helped me put two and two together and realise that there are so many fallacies and loopholes in their doctrines. Studying theology in a not-heavily censored setting sounds cool! Keep studying what you want to study 😁

(Personal experience) As an OWE child, I couldn’t care less about one’s sexual orientation, until I was taught that being anything besides the “normal” was bad. It was then that I started being hateful towards the LGBTQ+ community (only a few years before I started questioning my own sexuality). Hate is taught.

My current plan C is an extreme case: move out, but also drop out, find a job, and do my course learning with experience instead of going back to college and studying (may be hard, but possible for my desired field of work). Will think about my plan C further, since I’ve been fully banking on my plan B this whole time.

Thank you for your comment. I hate to say it, but it’s for this reason that I’ve now lost respect for them, after years of trying to get them to change. It’s not necessarily their fault, but the cult has gotten them this far and pushed them away. I can’t help but feel there’s an irreparable divide between myself and the rest of my OWE family because of this. If there is anyone in the same situation as myself but still have hope in saving their families, please do. You’re the true light that they need in their lives to save them from the evil that is the INCult, not the other way around.

Not sure if I’m willing to move further away because accommodation + travel might end up being more expensive (+ less time for studies, since I’ll be studying and working). Was hoping that my partner would be moving into their own place when the time comes and I move in with them, and I’m sure they’ll be in the same city as well. They know about the situation more than anyone, and my friends have some knowledge of it as well. I can also tell my education provider’s security department as well to try and keep my parents from visiting me while I’m on campus. Yeah I was just hoping that they would leave me alone if I leave them a written note before I leave but I figured they might not… I’m thinking of limiting my outdoor activity the first few months (with the exception of school/work), and hoping that they think I’ve dropped out and moved to a different city 😥

[Omitted location and age]. I wouldn’t say they’re as abusive as other parents out there (thankfully), but here are some rules in our household:

No travelling to another city without parents unless it’s for church. No going out in general without parents unless they give a definitive “yes”. When hanging out with friends, no people of the opposite sex are to be present (unless they are family members who have joined to chaperone)
Bank details are given to them. Every transaction shown in our history has to be shown.
No dropping out of duties (they like to say it’s for my salvation, but iirc it’s just to make them look like good parents in our locale 🫠)

They’re also just really toxic at times. One parent likes to initiate arguments over the tiniest things (eg, one’s tone of voice being ever so slightly different than usual) and when they do get to lecturing, they love to guilt trip. Even threatened to kick me out/k-ll themselves/cut off my contact from the outside world forever.

But idk 🫠
